My Night Fae warlock is only 182 ilevel and is asked to go into areas of the Maw she hasn’t even opened yet. I can’t recall a similarly difficult quest in any of the other Covenants Campaign quests that I’ve been stuck on as in its just purely too difficult. I tried killing the mounted dudes to get a mount to ride faster but eventually I had to dismount to interact with quest npcs and got smashed again each time.
I’m put on a path where I have to follow a trail and the mobs are constantly slaughtering me. I lost the majority of the stygia I’d earned to that point because I simply couldn’t get back to my body, and eventually I had to just hearth out in frustration.
If there is a trick to a clothie of my ilevel to doing this more easily, I’d be grateful to hear it Otherwise I guess it’s just put on hold until I get stronger with better gear and can go back much, much later.
PS Edit: Managed to do it today, thanks for the advice much of which helped.
I didn’t have trouble on my NF alt, but as a boomkin it didn’t really matter that I was 182ish.
The only difficulty I experienced, was getting into the cave; the rest was either easy enough or I could avoid them. I’m sure you’ve tried this, but make sure you just have everything available. Healthstone, health potions, food buff, etc…and try fearing/CCing a lot more.
It’d be easier to help if I could see exactly what you’re dying to, but ultimately all I can recommend is letting your pet tank more, and CCing whenever possible.
I tried everything but the mob population was just too heavy. I could skirt around parts of it but even pulling one Elite was difficult and there wre parts of it where I just couldn’t move. Its in the Beast Warrens which, as I say, I haven’t even opened yet and am not likely to for a while. This is an alt so I’m really doing catch up.
I might have to either find a friend to help out or just wait a bit until I’m better geared, which is sad. My warlock is generally very strong but it was a bit miserable being constantly killed. Not a rant really, just puzzled. I guess maybe my reach exceeds my grasp on this occasion and I just need to be a bit stronger.
I did this on my hunter and the only issues I really had was there are a couple mobs that have some sort of absorb shield and one of those is right by the target location where there is also a couple other mobs. I died.
The way I got around it was to burn down all the other mobs before I died then race back and blast the mob with shield down before it activated.
My lock is venthyr so, I haven’t done the quest you’re having issue but are you using Fear? It can kinda give you some breathing room and I’ve noticed in the maw sometimes just sitting there using the health funnel just to keep your Blueberry up can sometimes be just want you need to do. Toss up your dots and then put everything into keeping the Blueberry up.
Yeah that’s super strange…I remember following the road and not encountering that sort of mob density. Last suggestion I’ll make: take a detour around the path it shows. If you can’t kill the quest mob, then I suppose I can’t help there.
Is that the one where you follow tyrande? Believe it or not, this is not the worst covenant maw expedition one. The kyrian one takes you in perdition hold that is full of 161 elites (there is a trick to get through that one I discovered after doing that quest).
Take your time. Try CCing one to deal with a mob. Retalent into the camouflage talent (invisible sneaking). If a mm, use your pet. Go slow, or figure out a busy time for that area/quest and follow others.
If you’re moving around in the BW without being that far in Ve’nari’s questline (Rule 6) you’re susceptible to Otherworldly Screeching, which basically fears you for a few seconds at a time, frequently. I recommend you work on getting to Rule 6 step first.
Hmm… Ask a priest to give you fortitude, a mage to give you arcane intellect. Get invisibility potions. Maybe eat stamina food, maybe get a bandage or two. Do everything you can to up your survivability.
Was easy on my bm hunter - but what isn’t easy on a hunter?
You can’t just follow the path they give you - you have to sort of sneak around it. It’s a pain in the butt (just like the Kyrian one in Perdition Hold where you are pretty much guaranteed at least one death).
Yeah, this was a bit rough and a little rougher on certain classes then others. The wife and i did this together and it bugged out on us in a few spots. It was frustrated
It’s doable, for sure. And as BM, easily so. However, looking at some of your gear, you seem-as you’ve mentioned-to be a bit undergeared.
Try using the AH to buy some lvl 50 SL blues which are going to replace the items that need replacing and you should be fine.
You may also want to try “shortcutting” when possible; i.e. there are times when the path takes you through groups of enemies and the doubles back around. Skip the trash and just sidle over to where the trail moves past them.
