Little Help with Outlaw Rotation

You’ll have to forgive me, I went to Icy veigns and still seem to be doing poor DPS compared to other Rogues with gear like mine.

I train on the dummies and notice a jump in my DPS when I’m altering Sinister Strike with my pistol shot, I used to only use pistol shot when it gets highlighted on my toolbar and it was doing less dps than if I go 1 and 1. I also seem to generate more CP when I do it that way as well.

I’m also using my vanishes and doing Ambush yet my dps is only like 10k when I’m seeing others doing like 14k-23k. I’m blowing all my cooldowns with AR, SnD, etc.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I’m having similar problems and can’t seem to find what I’m doing wrong. Outlaw according to many has ‘‘super good AoE’’ but I’m getting out dpsed by tanks lol. Barely above healers. Single target is fine.

But I’m a WoW noob and even more new to rogue. Probably skill issue.

10k dps on aoe situations or on single target against dummies, need you to explain more.

Essentially the way to play outlaw for aoe is just do single target rotation and add blade flurry for your cleave.

The single target rotation is the complicated part because outlaw is completely rng based but basically, what I have been doing (likely not perfect):

  1. Pre-roll bones before encounter
  2. Open with Ambush, Blade Flurry, Adrenaline Rush and build to a Slice and Dice
  3. Lots of things with Roll the Bones kind of depend on your buff, for example if you get Grand Melee you can let it pump your slice and dice for a bit before re-rolling to stronger buff (every buff is better than grand melee).

For Maintenance keep Slice and Blade Flurry up 100%, only pop Flurry right before it expires. Same for Slice.

  1. Between the Eyes up time could be why your suffering, you should have the 20% crit buff on this up ATLEASST 90% of the time. On a target dummy, you should be able to get nearly 100% uptime. This is a huge damage buff, where most of my moves have over 50% crit chance now over an encounter.

  2. Only use pistol shot if its empowered by SS, and if you can time it after a Between the Eyes shot, then if talented into Greenskins Wickers, can proc super buffed pistol shots.

  3. Use Between the Eyes RIGHT BEFORE activating dread blades, then when you activate dread blades to spam dispatch finishers, you will get Between the Eyes really quickly again, this helps with uptime on the buff.

  4. Basic stuff like don’t over pool on combo points or energy. Dispatch, Pistol Shots, Main Gauche and Melee should be your top damage dealers.

I don’t know if that was all obvious, but hopefully it helps.

Check the guide on Wowhead man, you need to change up a lot of things from stats to legendaries to talents. Icyveins is kinda cringe and outdated nowadays.

Went to Wowhead and saw the best Outlaw AoE build and tested it on dummies. I’m doing like 16-18k dps, a lot better than before!

Gratz! Also, in case Wowhead doesn’t link you there anymore, you should check out the Rogue Discord server “Ravenholdt.” That’s a place where getting CE every tier is the average, and you get to have conversations with the rogues from Hall of Fame guilds. Plus we recently got our own pocket Blizzard dev in Realz, who actually works on the game, actually asks these HoF rogue players for advice, and ACTUALLY explains the why behind their design/balancing decisions to us. It’s overall a great place if you wanna optimize and pump for DF lol.
