There are several fish from the Coiled Isle that are not only not used in any recipes but also cannot be turned into filets (they aren’t listed as a possible reagent on the filet list).
Why are the fishing loot pools being clogged with these fish that have literally no use whatsoever?

I think the bigger issue is the useless master recipes. Same effects as the existing recipes but harder to make. And the real head scratcher, one of the recipes cost 250 fished up beached Asteroids.
Then there’s the 3 new feasts.
All three are better than the existing secondary stat feasts, by a little bit. But there is no new primary stat feast and they require SO MUCH more in mats I can’t see a use case.
10 plant matter and 9 herbs
Vs.
30 named fish and 50 fillets
And the problem…
This would indicate that either the Dev’s and management have no understanding of effort / risk vs. reward or they don’t understand or play the game enough to know these are a worse deal than the existing items.

The cost to make the Loa’s Gathering is so out of touch with reality. On my realm it costs 4,223g to craft 2 Loa’s Gathering. Scale that up to a Feast and you are looking at 42k for a single feast.
All this for 7 more secondary stat, no one really cares about the stam. Professions are in such a joke of a state right now.

The people who develop this game most certainly do not understand the concept of risk vs. reward or anything remotely related to economics.

Midnight’s cooking recipes have been a real head-scratcher to me from the start because there are a normal number of recipes, but only two boost primary stat (Impossibly Royal + Royal Roast). That renders every other cooking recipe utterly moot. They are literally wasted slots, and I found that decision very perplexing. It made cooking last season very boring indeed, and it’s not like they don’t know these things, so it begged the question: why did you design this and put it in the game and then leave it there after alpha and beta?
Now, we’re in season 2, and they had an opportunity to fix it, but nope:
- No new individual primary stat buff food. This means we will continue to use the Impossibly Royal Roast and the Royal Roast from season 1.
- No new primary stat feast recipe. This means we will continue to use the season 1 primary stat feast.
I hope this was an error and not an intentional situation set up so they can point to a spreadsheet later and get rid of cooking by using the excuse, “Nobody engaged with it.”

To me, it indicates that they used generative AI to create the 12.1 recipes and nobody bothered to check them.
There is NO. WAY. that they devs don’t know secondary stat feasts are no competition for the primary stat feasts.
I highly suspect that the 250 starfish one from the fishing vendor was meant to be a primary stat feast, and I really wish they’d hotfix it.
In regard to the Many-Eyed Flounder and the Twin-Headed Snipefish, which cannot be turned into filets and cannot be tossed in for any kind of fishing or profession buff, I think we’re looking at the same thing. They ran it through their little AI platform and didn’t check the result.
Those fish were probably meant to be useful for one or the other. Instead, they’re just vendor trash. Vendor trash has ALWAYS been a gray item.
This is a matter of: they generated it automatically and did not look at it before they plugged it into the game. It’s the only thing that makes sense. Most beta testers and PTR folks don’t spend their time fishing, so I can easily believe it didn’t get reported. The people doing testing can’t get streaming views if they stand there fishing, maybe? I have no idea. But there is no way in Azeroth they don’t know that vendor trash should be gray and that no secondary stat buff food would be preferable to a primary stat buff food.
(I think there are a couple of specs for whom a haste feast sims better than a primary stat feast, but they are a very small minority)
