List of great female characters abandoned for promoting Sylvanas

Does literally anyone even remember who Lillian Voss is?

She was a human vendor at some point, right?

No literally did she even exist before Cataclysm?

Just wait buddy. Once that Light vs. Void expansion comes I am willing to bet we lose Liadrin, Turalyon, and maybe Alleria to an out of left field villain arc.

I’m still sore over the way they treated Amber Kearnen’s death (the only way you learned about it in-game is if you played a Rogue), but since she’s dead, she should be a shoe-in to make an appearance in Shadowlands.

This actually a good point… I would love to see more of Thalyssra, Valtrois, Oculeth, Khadgar, or even Rommath, but I really don’t trust Blizz writers not to run em into the ground. :frowning:

This is kinda the problem people are having with Sylvanas, though. She’s been hanging around the last few expansions, and a lot of people are tired of her. I suppose it’s great if you like her, but if you don’t it’s like constantly logging in to nails on a chalkboard that will never stop, while the characters you DO like never even show up.

They’re so wonderful and amazing I could just puke…

 :face_vomiting:

Seriously though, Sylvanas needs to kill both of them as a part of her redemption story, and then go back to leading the Horde.

Vanessa never died. Rogues have a quest line in Legion to have her as a bodyguard. She’s a friend of mine since then.

He made a literal zone out of the suffering and torture of others so that he could bend them to his will and just use them. How can you go into the Maw, and still think that guy might be good?

My guess is that what little Blizz tells us of his reasons are basically just “I am evil, muahuahua!”, and that we never get much deeper than that. :frowning:

Well to be fair, we don’t know all of the information yet… That being said, this conversation kind of reminds me of how people reacted to Thanos, and how they tried to say he wasn’t a bad guy.

Unfortunately we will prolly never know all the information. NPCs keep yelling at us that the Jailer was right, and we haven’t seen the truth, and that everything is broken, but no one really elaborates as to how or why. We don’t know why Zovaal decided to betray his job as the Arbiter and move against the other Eternal ones, we don’t know what his plan is. Blizz is doing a bad job explaining this narrative.

We DO know, though, that he’s been taking millions of souls from across the entire universe, torturing them, and turning them into weapons and the very zone he walks on. That’s enough for me to wanna stab him.

And before anyone says the other Covenants do the same, they do not. They use Anima, which is energy given off by souls. The soul itself remains intact, and they siphon off the excess. You see this in Ardenweald where they offer it up, and it’s mentioned that it recharges in time. The jailer destroys everything about the soul, and turns it into a mindless husk or stygia that forms everything in the Maw.

I’m wondering if SL will end with some elements just being left up in the air, and all of this stuff will be used for a lead up into a future expansion, not 10.0, but a bit down the line.

I feel like both of these are super boring. Talanji, while she was alright in the book, I wasn’t a huge fan of involving her representation in game. Rastakhan being a sacrifice for her character development was boring. And Mayla – well, she exists.

These three I agree with. Liadrin, Thalyssra, and Vancleef should all have more screen time and be capable of doing more within their circles. Liadrin and Thalyssra especially should have more to bring to the table. Thalyssra was good in the most recent book with her place on the council and all that, but we need more in game from her.

Meh. I’m on the fence involving this one.

Unlike a lot of people here, I actually like the cosmic stuff. I really loved going into the Shadowlands. My frustration was with the sheer anemic story that we were given with it. I hate that it feels like bullet points of a story concept rather than a actual tale.

That said, doubt any of it will ever be fleshed out. Blizz has a bad habit of throwing the baby out with the bathwater. They see people don’t like Shadowlands, and they prolly won’t ever bother to delve into WHY. Also, they’re terrible at trying up story points… stares at the giant sword

This is kinda the annoying part of their every expansion is its own self contained thing ideal they have going on. It’s not just players skills and cool toys that get left in the dust, but a lot of lore and interesting characters too. :frowning:

And then when they DO use old characters, half the time they don’t know what to do with em. I’m still a little irked about Thalyssra saying she couldn’t possibly take Jaina on, for instance. I’ve grown to actually kinda like Jaina, but Thal has been doing this for 10k years. -_-

It happens with other characters too. Blizz tends to think of a “cool” concept, and then warp its characters into ways to fulfill that concept, rather than let things happen organically and play to their character’s strengths. :frowning:

Not sure what you mean by that. Elune helped Tyrande realize being consumed by hate for so long only leads to an unhealthy lifestyle which helps no one and gave her the choice to instead heal, move on, and help her people heal, as well. That choice would have taken a lot of strength and so Tyrande comes out looking stronger and better than before.

The thing that really yeets and deletes Tyrande is her voice actor…
Blizzard, I cannot express this enough, please hire a new voice actor for Tyrande! She sounds like an old smoker with an awful tacky accent that has never been heard of before that no other Night Elf or character her age has. It makes no sense, and it’s the most cringe thing in this game to hear and feels like torture.

Greymane… they made him even more incompetent.
The council of three hammers… forgotten…
Rhonin, a great mage killed in a book.
Jaina… get tossed from side to side, to fit the writers preference.
Turalyon… anyone who has followed his lore since warcraft 2, knows he had been butchered.
Uther. : l

I can continue with the list, but meh

I don’t know how new she is. I remember seeing her in the Forsaken starting zone when I went back and did that, but I started in Legion so I have no idea how long that quest had been there. THAT SAID… I agree. I really quite liked her. I kinda hope they keep her as the Forsaken leader rather than just tossing her aside and bringing Sylvanas back in.

They still got Anduin front and center.

I say newer, because she first appeared in cata, and sylvannas has been going around for a long time, but yeah she isn’t as new new, per se

Yeah, she would make a great leader for the forsaken, she know what her people has gone through and isn’t a member of a royal family
