List of easiest to hardest specs to master in pvp?

I’m a noob looking for a decent alt that’s not to easy but not too hard too play in pvp. My main is an affliction lock and I don’t like the playstyle of only having one school of magic to cast from. More often than not I’m shut out of doing anything useful because of all the crowd control in the game.

I just started an enhancement shaman alt and got him to level 40 in PvE before thinking how needlessly painful it is constantly watching the timers on all those low cooldown abilities. I spend 90% of my time staring at square boxes mashing whatever button comes up first with only a slight thought given towards maximizing my damage right now. Whoever was in charge of combat this expansion needs to find a new job. My eyes should be mainly focused on the environment, not square boxes.

Before I waste my time creating another alt, does anyone have a solid list of easiest to hardest classes to master for PvP? I’m not looking for a super simple 4 button swifty macro toon, but I also don’t want a class where I spend all the time watching boxes with short cooldown abilities.

dude, your concerns are fixed by just playing something and practicing it. what do you even mean staring at boxes? like you are just staring at your rotation?

there’s an addon called hekili that will help you learn your rotation on a new class, but you sound like you’re just super inexperienced and would have a better time if you just practice

not too easy but not too hard? the class you’re best at and practice…

play what you like

The game is at a stage where you need to know a spec well enough to not watch boxes to succeed.

That being said, DH is almost certainly what you want - it has limited buttons, has the same rotation for both PVE and PVP and is competitive in everything.

It’s the number one spec where you accidentally kill someone and you’re not even sure why; you’ll love it

Boxes as in action bars. I know every class needs to look at them to some extent, but seems like the enhancement shaman has to stare at his action bar keeping track of all those short cooldowns that constantly come up. The majority under 10 seconds. And some come up again and again with procs.

I have to put the toolbar right on top of my head and it just looks really awkward for a user interface like that.

Wow, I mean if Enhancement isn’t for you, it isn’t for you, but a lot of us think it’s a super fun spec. It takes time to learn, and is certainly not for someone looking for something middle of the road in terms of difficulty to learn, but ease up on the devs for this one, cause they got it right with Enhancement’s flow.

If you’re looking for a melee, have you considered Feral Druid? You get a fun stealth and the rotation seems simple enough. But then again, in PvP, you don’t really get to optimize any rotation because the enemy players would prefer that you didn’t. So I would say just play DH. It should feel familiar, in theme, to being a warlock.

what version of enhancement are you playing?

stormstrike > 10s crash > 10s icestrike is insanely simple

if you’re playing lava lash talents though it can get SUPER chaotic but typically stormstrike talents are just better atm anyways

if your goal is just to stomp people for fun its probably uh dk, its the lowest targeted in shuffle so instead of concentrating on dying you can do other stuff, dh prob after that simpler rotation too, bm hunter is 2 button dps with 4pc and u can win games just landing one trap, less survivability than the other two though

you need good awareness to play enh properly and you’re going to be targeted a lot

Right now I have these as my main “damage” abilities on my toolbar in no particular order of listing: sundering, crash lightning, frost shock, stormstrike, icestrike, flame shock, and elemental blast. And yes, I know to cast the crash lightning first and then stormstrike and icestrike.

sundering is a fairly long cd
it’s versatile and you shouldn’t just use it as a main damaging ability

stop casts, cc dps, use it with doomwinds for an insane amount of instant damage, use it as an execute

just press stormstrike
and if you cant stormstrike press crash lightning
and if you cant press stormstrike or crash lightning press ice strike

def one of the simplest melee to do damage on, the rest of it is where it starts to get difficult

if you wanna avoid dps with cooldown rotational abilities though try deathknight
you play around rune/runic power more than several short cooldowns

Yea, I was originally thinking Unholy DK or Enhancement. My only problem with DK is needing a pet. I don’t want to deal with A.I. pathing issues. Yes, I know shamans have pets, but you don’t directly control them.

bro, just bind pet kick and go from there. you’re not gonna master any spec if you can’t get down enhance prio. pick a class you like, and practice it. simple. don’t worry about skill capping your new alt, how about we get the skill floor down

You could easily get 1800 on DK by just putting pet on passive, macroing pet attack on your dps buttons and making a weakaura to scream at you when it dies cos it flops to a strong breeze.

And turning off auto gnaw.

Pick a melee, especially Rogue or Watrior. You’re twice as likely to get high rated as melee than a caster.

Everyone should honestly be leveling a Ret because I bet they’re going to be another level of OP.

easiest is warlock. roll to 70 spam chaos bolt or go affliction and become unkillable , either way 1 or 2 button to reach 2800 rating without any efforts

yeah honestly destros a good pick rn it’s basically a melee/tank spec with almost completely instant damage that does more than most specs in the game while taking almost none

Also locks are like the devil who managed to convince the world he didnt exist. That spec is the most op and broken class in history but they still manage to stay under the radar being instant killers wearing cloth tougher than any tank in the game. The day they get nerfed to the level of other ranged dps all locks will fall by minimum 900 rating

i don’t think anyone with atleast 1/3rd of a brain thinks destro isn’t insane rn

I’d try Arms Warrior and BM Hunter for what you’re looking for.

You said you want more “medium” difficulty. Not super brain dead easy. If you want the easiest spec to play with the least amount of keybinds, then play Havoc DH. They’re the easiest to play of the top tier specs. You could also try Frost DK, as they are probably even more brain dead than Havoc DH, but their power level right now doesn’t seem to be top tier.

If DH is a bit boring for you (I can understand, they’re a yawn fest for me), then try Arms Warrior. They’re easy to pick up, but have some options and interactions to keep you more entertained. They also have better gap closers than Havoc, so it has a nice feel to it always being able to sit on your enemy.

If you want to try ranged, give BM Hunter a try. It’s easy to pick up and do well with, but there’s room to grow. Trap management is very important, and that’s the key to being a good hunter. BM Hunter is not as brain dead as people make it out to be. Your positioning and trap skills have to be good.

Okay, going to try a frost DK.

It doesn’t look like an enhancement button spam class and there is no permanent pet to deal with. My only gripe is the weak mobility, but I guess that’s the tradeoff.

Like I said, I’m not looking for the best pvp class because I’m not the best pvp player. I mostly range between 1600 and 1800 rating with my affliction lock.

In my mind if ur gunna play frost you may aswell play Arms.
