My friends and I are just adding -agon to our names.
Scalies are a subspecies of Furry(so still counts). Instead of having fur, they have scales or similar . Whilst similar to regular Furries, they are more capable of defence at the expense of their speed. Scalies typically have a less cheerful attitude than normal Furries.
I think Scalies are actually their own thing. Rather it’s just a branched off category to what is generalized as a “Furry”.

It’s too bad you can’t make a rogue dracthyr, because Spyro would be a dope name for one.
