List of addons that need to banned or nerfed

lol, you need to reeeeelax about this, holy moly. You’re playing an MMO and you’re crying about whispers about joining a guild gasp. How about join a guild, or make your own, and they’ll stop. I’ll even sign your charter.

Like I said, I report them for spam. I don’t understand the difference between gold spammers spamming their ads and guilds spamming their ads through the use of the whisper system.

Spam is spam and need to be treated as such.

you know you can hide the whisper chat panel entirely in the chat box options right?

go down to the chat panel window right click on the header til you get to settings and unclick whispers

Yeah, just hide the whispers from gold spammers

Blocking you, too. I’m not going back and forth about this. Spam is spam, and I will continue to report every single guild ad whisper, everytime I get them and hope they get Squelched/Silenced because they need to stop. I shouldn’t have to go through all this extra work to avoid spam whispers.

I need to see my Whisper window for other conversations that isn’t guild spam.

Turns out the World First players in FFXIV were using graphics mods that put down markers to make the boss easier resulting in the devs dropping a post against said tools and 5/4chan saw it as an opportunity to get streamers banned.

whatever you need to do
Im ok with your ignoring me
I wont lose any sleep

also to anyone who is bothered by spam selling carries ect I have used the addon Badboy for quite a long time, it successfully screens unwanted chat activity and you can customize it to screen by whatever text entry you wish. I don’t really see anything as far as ads anymore.

Anyway, spread the word. Report every guild spam whisper as spam. Hopefully, they’ll get Squelched/Silenced and can’t initiate whispers to strangers.

If I wanted to join a guild, I’d look for one. I’m not in one, for a reason and shouldn’t be forced into joining guilds just to avoid guild whispers nor hide my whisper window and re-work how I handle highlighted tabs of Whispers, and I might miss something that isn’t a guild spam whisper.

Spam is spam and guild ad whispers is spam. I’m fine with them in public chat channels 'cause I can leave those channels. I find it wrong, when these ads leave the public chat channels and begin invading people’s personal whisper space. That’s crossing a line.

There are definitely certain WAs that need to be gotten rid of. The one that does the imposter mechanic for you in the Dreadlords fight, for example. I feel like that definitely goes well beyond what an addon should do. I refuse to download it, even when pugs on my alts demand it.

That person seems very unhinged lol

Glad those work for you, I’ve tried them but they never feel ‘right’ as it were, yanno? Just don’t click well in my head so old fashioned buttons and clicks for me lol

That is a concern without some addons the disable wouldn’t be able to play the game.

I tihnk they should ban all addons, and instead focus on making a finished product.

They can easily get the manpower for that by not making content nobody cares for…like mission tables and choregast etc etc.

Exactly, many of the addons either: help with accessibility issues inherent in the game or don’t affect other players at all (like say TRP only affecting the people with TRP) and other such

doesnt seem to bother them over @ff14

they outright ban ppl using any “addon” and dont seem to get flak for it.

i had the same thought tho - “what about disabilities” and “being inclusive” - but apparently its not much of a concern.

Disagree.

I may not like one single addon, but I don’t think ALL addons should be banned.

Addons like Adapt nor TRP3 are not ban worthy. Adapt animates portraits while TRP3 is just an electronic character sheet to flesh out your characters’ stories. They do nothing to give me ques on boss fights nor warn me about PvP battles.

Because the world is ending lol.

Atleast we can agree to disagree civilly

The Lords of Dread WA allows players without voice to quickly communicate. It makes the encounter accessible to a larger audience and is sometimes necessary, given the short amount of time allotted to complete the puzzle.

Let’s also consider that voice comms could be considered an “addon,” one that was incorporated into the game itself. I’d contend that most of us still use Discord, instead of in-game comms, but there was a time when Ventrilo, Mumble, Teamspeak, etc. were necessary “addons” that weren’t included in the base game.

That’s been gone. Like for weeks.

Well I think the few instances where some players feel they neeed addons are just really unfinished product parts of the game. And Blizzard should step up and just finish the product so addons arent needed.

Also will make tuning raids and making mechanics easier and will make sure everyone plays the same game.

I agree a system is needed…but that its more about the product not being finished so addons are used to flesh out the unfinished product.
