Is it worth getting deep thunder because it is also good in pvp? How much of a difference would lionheart be in PvE? I plan to do mostly PvE and some PVP. What did you go with and why?

The hammer’s proc rate is too low for use with a paladin go with the sword.

The mace spec stun procs all the time but the deep thunder proc itself almost never does.
LHC blows deep thunder clean out of the water for PvE, it’s stat steriod proc is super potent

Deep Thunder is good. Mace specialization + random stun proc that is off DR for other stuns is good, very good.
The upgraded version, Stormherald, was called Stunherald and Skillherald for a reason. IIRC it has a PPM of 2. This means it procs once for every 30 seconds of uptime on a target and will straight up win you games.
Mace spec is objectively superior by a large margin over sword for PvP.
That said the sword is quite a bit better in PvE compared to mace.
The stormherald proc rate is exactly the same as deep thunder, almost all those stuns are mace spec stuns.
