Linked auction houses didn’t come around until 1.9, over a year after WoW was released. Each major city had their own AH separate from each other, with different listings. I only played Alliance, and I remember that Darnassus and SW effectively didn’t have an AH - it was there - but nobody used it and everyone went to IF to auction items (At least that’s how it was on my realm).
Do you support linking them at launch? or would you rather have them linked at a later time to be more like how it was? I personally would rather them be linked at a later point in time.
This is very dangerous of me to say, but I don’t think this is controversial other than the clickbait title.

Should definitely be linked at launch. What’s the point of having them unlinked only for a few months?

Yeah this is in the same ballpark as starting with 1.12 talents. It’s more consistent in the long run.
Keep in mind there were separate auction houses for over 1 year during original WoW. It was a big part of the game for a long time. I think the idea that you can go to different auction houses and find different items and hopefully get a deal was a cool part of the original WoW experience and thus should be incorporated into the current experience.

There were lots of things that were different the first half of vanilla that we wont be having at launch.
I’d like to see unlinked auction houses. It was a great boon to traders to be able to buy and sell in different locations. Linking them was a shame.
Blizzard already said AH will be linked at launch during the Blizzcon panel

It be cool if it wasn’t, because traveling from auction house to auction house seems very rpg like. And besides linked auction house made it easier for people to snipe goods with addons.
It was a very cool part of wow.
Mages would have a huge advantage with this system. Personally, I would hate having to take the time to travel to each ah.
Id like to see the neutral one become more used.
Darnassus, Stormwind, Thunder Bluff and the Undercity had auction houses before they were linked? I only remember the “auction houses in Orgrimmar and Ironforge” days and the “the Horde Auction House is in Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, and the Undercity” days.
No real point to not start with faction link AHs.
It wasn’t something I experienced, but it sounds bad. xD
I’m pretty sure they’ll be linked, just because of the Client data. same with Bootybay everlook etc.
I mean why even have an auction house? Or gold? Let’s just barter items in /say.

I loved having to spend an hour to see what was in all the auction houses /s
I miss all the activity at IF, to be honest. It will be a little weird to see a ghost town Stormwind again, though.
If they implement sharding everywhere, IF isn’t going to seem as awesome either.
