Let’s say Blizzard decided to prevent you from playing more than 5 hours per day. When you hit 4 and 1/2 hours, you are warned and at the 5 hour mark, you are logged off.
Would you still keep subscribing to WoW?
I’m not proposing this. But, after 2 decades of Blizzard struggling to keep up with players whom burn through months of content in mere days, I wouldn’t put it past Blizzard to just lock all of you out after 5 hours of play per day.

Heh… I’m lucky if I play five hours a week… where do you all get this time?

No because of the weekends.
Weekdays I don’t even play that much
But I tend to have a negative opinion of anyone who tries to tell me how to live my life.

why would anyone pay $15/month for that kind of service

I would definitely quit. The kind of work I do means I go months without being able to play such as now. Been away from home nearly 2 months with no computer access at all. So when I’m home I sometimes like to do marathon gaming sessions to try and catch up. That’s already impossible due to daily / weekly systems like the vault. A 5 hour limit would be the final nail in the coffin.

Why do people post these hypotheticals that will never happen

Sure. I rarely play more than 5 hours a day except during the very beginning of an expansion during the first few weeks.

People should be free to spend their time how they wish.
If you want to watch a movie on 2x speed or read a whole book in one day, that’s up to you. As long as you are happy and enjoy that.
WoW isn’t something that’s meant to keep you entertained forever, finishing the content and unsubscribing until the next patch, or even next expansion is a valid way to enjoy the game.
I don’t see why you would even suggest a cap like this, WoW isn’t something that needs to be rationed to keep us from dying like food or water.
Let people live their lives how they wish, focus on yourself.

I don’t know did you hear about the wow famine of 2022?
The servers went down for 2 and a 1/2 hours and people were so starved they started attacking each other on the forums.
If only we had rationed better.

It’s currently more than I can play, so yes, it works for me

I only play a few hours a day because of back pain and other joint pains.
But I see your question is about Blizzard forcing people to only play a certain number of hours a day.
It is the forcing part that a lot of players would have problems with.

I’m going to be on a data plan soon, which got me nervous. I crunched how much GB a month WoW takes, and looked at my average network usage per month.
Apparently I play less than 5hrs a day, but I play for long stretches from Friday to Sunday. Won’t have to change a dang thing! DF has been treating me very well
Who the hell is playing 5 hrs a day…i barely do that a week.

I log on the do Fishing and Cooking Daily Quests.
I have 15 characters across 3 Realms. It takes a while to do those dailys on every character.
Depending on which combination of quests I get it can take as little as 2 hours of play to get them all done.
The quests today were of the long variety, meaning you spend a lot of time flying or riding.
It took me 4 hours to get them all done.
Then I log off for the day.
Many years ago I used to play 14 hours a day.
My choice.
