I’ve read the back and forth as to whether or not the 400ilvl quest gives top raiding guilds an advantage or not and i’m leaning 60/40 in favor of yes. However, this is going to make the WF race that much more interesting that we might see more Alliance in the race. Unfortunately most of those guilds will switch right back after, but for now, I think these guilds are starting to take notice of what Blizzard is doing.
I’m not here to argue whether its right or not (in fact, i’m inclined to consider it an unfair advantage, especially if it does result in Limit winning WF through sheer numbers, although it would be impossible to conclude that). Things are just getting a lot more interesting this expansion; interesting enough to bulk up on popcorn. Anyone got a Costco membership?
You think there is a 40% chance that having 2 additional pieces of heroic gear on each player when mythic unlocks will not give them an advantage? Okay then.
A guild will do anything to have an advantage. It does not surprise me one bit. I enjoyed the WF race last go around when Method smoked the competition. I look forward to them doing it again for BoD!
Because we play a game where RNG is still a factor. It is theoretically possible, that 2 additional pieces might become negligible by the time the race kicks off. We play a slot machine game, thems the odds.
And pressure. For awhile I was worried Redbull was getting annoyed and wanting to kick them out (not really, but I was wondering what was going through their heads since the race was heading into “overtime”)
World First guilds regularly go to great lengths to obtain any possible advantage they can. Funneling, split runs, non-stop farming, having members play other members alts… and yes, faction changing temporarily. Are all things we have seen before.
Switching over to take advantage of the current active Warfront rewards in hopes of gaining even a slight edge over other competitors is standard for World First guilds.
I don’t think what is currently happening lives up to the standard of concern, that would cause Blizzard or anyone else to step in and do something about it.
I think a far more “abusive” example of using faction transfers for an edge was back in FL, where the guild STARS faction transfered > which reset instance lockouts> so they could get at the Heroic bosses earlier than everyone else. At the time lockouts worked very differently than they do today. And this method of reseting lockouts with transfers was known and used by the hardcore community in the past ( getting extra attemtps on LK is an example) but FL was a turning point.
This whole event concerning STARS saw Blizzard quickly intervene; booting them out of the instance and freezing their lockout for the week.
Blizzard actually disabled Heroic Firelands following STARS actions.
It was unheard of for them to shut down a whole raid difficulty like that across all regions on launch week.
Which in turn, forced a large scale policy change at Blizzard (Lockouts aren’t reset with transfers anymore) and created the now standard 1 week delay before Mythics open up on live. Period.
No more getting in early!
Kind of lame. There should be a 30 day cool down on faction changing back. But what - 20 raiders x $60 = $1,200 x 2… nice bit of business if enough guilds do it…
