Limit dps meters

No, no it is not.

Dragonriding is not gameplay related? Mounts, pets, and toys are not gameplay related?

I have not seen anyone yell as someone for dragonriding. Nothing in game is toxic because of dragonriding. It doesn’t effect the in game toxicity, it effects people on a forum. Those are different.

Then you are not looking.

Haha seriously You are seeing people yell at others in game for dragonriding…wrong or something? Please tell me what toxicity you have seen in game because of the gameplay that is dragonriding. Not because people are debating if it is good or not, but the actual gameplay existing causing a problem.

This has been the weirdest and honestly dumbest side discussion on this thread…and that is saying something.

Yes, not that it matters if it is in-game or otherwise.

What’s toxic is dragging other people down in group content, refuse to pull their own weight, to improve, and instead find fault with told the truth instead.

No – Meters are super important for progression / identifying what is happening in an encounter.

I was in a M0 the other day with a tank that booted our healer because he couldn’t keep him alive – I was able to look in details and see that the tank had 30% uptime on shield block, ignore pain and a 99% uptime on freaking battle stance.

I pointed it out as politely as I could, and noticed he turned defensive stance on after we got a new healer. RIP the healer – but at least we fixed the real problem and moved forward.

Details is super important for stuff like this… I can’t tell you how many times it’s been useful in identifying why tanks were squishy or hard to heal in Shadowlands. And as long as you’re not a jerk in how you point it out – most people are really open to suggestions. We had a raid tank that notoriously refused to use Shield of the Righteous or stand in his Consecrate… and we kept wiping cause healers couldn’t keep him alive. Finally someone talked to him about it and showed him in details – sure enough he fixed the issue.

It’s a game. It’s not pvp, it’s not challenging. Nobody is losing in lfg, or lfr because of 20% less dps from one player. Sorry that’s just not a good mentality for a fun healthy game to me.

What content were you in? Also, uhm, you didn’t need a dps meter to tell the guy was in battle stance.

Objectively wrong. LFR has an epidemic of AFKers that lead to failed DPS checks and wipes, which result in reporting of these people through damage meters and getting the boot. What’s more toxic? Being a little competitive or actively being parasitic in group content?

Sorry for the very late reply but…sure it is. They can absolutely be banned from certain areas and have ways to block add ons in certain zones. It’s not in there now but no reason you couldn’t disable them.

12 months later

was a bad idea then, is still a bad idea now.

Hyperfocusing too much on DPS meters can certainly lead to players min/maxing their own fun away at times, but it’s an extremely useful tool and does far more good than hard in the majority of cases.

“Make the game even easier because I don’t want to optimize anything” just doesn’t come across as a good approach in my opinion. We live in the age of information. Lobbying for ignorance to appease low performers just isn’t the way to go.

there’s nothing toxic about dps meters

do some toxic people use them? yes, but that’s not the meter’s fault. but wanting to get rid of them? that’s just:

The moment you said dps meters do nothing you were factually wrong.

I dont use the to troll anyone, I use them to gage my own progress. What they SHOULD do is what ffxiv does. You can have it but if you use it to shame someone you get a small ban.

You don’t have an argument when your premise is wrong.

But holy necro batman

The biggest problem with WoW is a huge percentage of the player base does not want to put the effort into playing their class well. Why do mythic raiders always get the best gear? Well Timmy, it’s because they put the work in to earn the gear. You want to do world quests? Cool, but you should only get world quests gear for it. Because that’s how life works.

Yeah didn’t mean to do that, was actually just going through old replies and had one pop up like it was new and responded. Accidental necro.
