Lightwell and Lightweaver…etc

Lightwell should be a midrange talent to give holy priest some identity. It shouldn’t be shared with lightweaver. Personally I think both of them should be core to holy priest.

Really the tree is just a mess with a lot of tools that are neat in theory but are scattered around with dead talents. The prayer of mending talents are all pathetic for example. Prayer of healing is crap even if you spec into it. Circle of healing is also crap…. Divine word → sanctify should be it’s own spell

Apotheosis and Holy Word: Salvation suffer from this as well. There is literally no reason it should be one or the other. Especially since they synergize so well.

If they INSIST on keeping Spirit of Redemption (Which has been a meme for 20 years/vanilla) why isn’t Restitution baseline?

Why are we a spot healer that can’t simultaneously access triage talents(!?) and Holy Word CD talents because they all arbitrarily cost 2 pts?

Why do we have so many dead talents in the beginning of our tree that affect spells we can’t even use because they are tuned so badly?

We just need a talent tree revamp.

The bottom of our talent tree is all 2 point nodes and 3 end talents which limits us to 6-7 talent nodes instead of 10 that other classes get.

There’s mandatory talents like Divine Image, Miracle Worker, and Answered Prayers (for raid) as well.

To be honest, Lightwell doesn’t give any identity… It’s just another healing cooldown.
Identity would be something like Restitution as baseline or midrange talent. The ability to self rez is way more unique than just a healing cooldown and paired with afterlife would be something really different that no other healer can do.

Don’t get me wrong, I love lightwell and it’s such a pretty spell, but healing cooldowns is not really what hpriest is needing rn. I’d rather ask for more utility stuff

I do agree tho, the spec tree is a mess. Lot of useless passive talents, too many PoM modifiers and PoH CoH situation is sad.

I have to disagree here.
Apotheosis + Salvation would be insanely strong, too strong. You would just pop salvation and then apotheosis and pretty much almost reset salvation again by spamming holy words.
They both synergize? yea, but that is not enough reason to make them both accesible at the same time.

In any case Hpriest is not missing hps, but utility and identity. Apoth + Salv doesn’t really hit this issue.

Oh yeah I agree with you. Your restitution idea sounds good. I think with “power creep” that sounds similar to other cheat death mechanics, so it would be appropriate.

About Lightwell (and also divine word → sanctify)
What I mean is I basically want them to take all the graphics and rework the whole spec. Similar to how demonology warlock got an overhaul to make everything intuitive and synergistic. I wouldn’t mind if they did something similar for priest as it is also feeing pretty ancient like warlock was.

Right now the spec feels like sifting through trash for the few good talents to throw a kit together, rather than a fully syngerized kit

I gotta disagree on HPS. Raid is fine because lolbrokenhalo (which they can’t fix because then how unplayable we truly are would show) but in higher keys I just cannot hit everyone I need to hit to keep them alive with Lightweaver spam. I have 32% haste. Even when Piety is up it’s not strong enough half the time. Giving us ONE (1) reliable AoE healing cooldown is NOT too strong.

I also think that attitude and refusing to think outside the box keeps us in the dumpster. I frankly don’t care what it is but our AoE healing needs to be fixed. Yanno. So we HAVE some.

I do really feel that I’m lacking aoe healing in dungeons. Which is weird for holy priest. I have amazing spot-healing but when strong aoe occurs… it’s just better on any other healer except dru which is simply undertuned. I don’t have any way to prevent damage. I don’t have any way to fill up my party hp except for spamming single target spells. It worked in sl when legendary (lightweaver analogue) was extremely strong and spot-healing was overtuned. I was okay with lack of aoe healing as I didn’t feel it - I “heal” crit restored 50% hp to dps and 25% to another player while also leaving mastery. It’s different now and I also don’t have any adequate way to interrupt casts.

I’m one of the first on the line for an Hpriest update/spec tree revamp.
But really HPS is not our problem. AoE healing is clunky for Hpriest but there’s a difference between clunky and unviable, The solution there is just either make PoH/CoH revamp or buff ToL.

Try Archon instead of Oracle if you feel you’re struggling here. I moved from Oracle to Archon for my 11s and truly it feels much better to have 1min cd to rotate instead of just looking for Piety. Also try Divine Word instead of Divine Image if you’re running lightweaver.

With DW you can rotate between Halo (1min cd) and DW (1min cd) and you can pair any of those with Apotheosis if there’s too much dmg going on.

For some bosses it’s good to take Divine hymn (This spells needs a buff for dungeon imho, but the 30% increased healing it gives for a full channel is nice to have previous the dmg is going off)

If anything… Hpriest right now is lacking identity, uniqueness and utility. Something that says, hey if we bring an Hpriest we have THIS particular thing to the comp.
For some healers it’s a Brez, or a lust, DRs or dispels, but really hpriest brings nothing unique.

As I mentioned in other posts, things I would buff or update to Hpriest would be:

  • Something like making Restitution baseline or accesible in our talent tree. This is a utility buff but also helps in AoE or Heavy situations as you can stop healing yourself and just focus on 3/4 members instead. While also giving us a semi “brez” paired with afterlife. #1 change I strongly suggest.
  • Poison dispel - If paladins have it, then we should have it.
  • Feathers buff to 60% movement speed.
  • Mass dispel can remain 2min but should dispel all types of magic. (Curses, Poisons, Disease, Magic)

These are buffs and changes I would add if there’s no upcoming revamp to our spec tree. All these changes would make Hpriest feel better in their current design and at the same time I don’t see them being broken to a point the spec becomes as meta as rsham rn.

As said previously, I don’t really care how the AoE healing is fixed. It just critically needs to be done.

Which basically means we’ll be waiting until the Midnight expansion to hear a word.

When they changed the talent tree in Dragonflight it felt good. I still think that the class feels good. It was nice that Miracle Worker was moved to not be a choice node.

Aside from just a couple small changes to the talent tree, I think that the talents feel pretty great! I’d like to see some balancing on existing spells like Prayer of Healing. You could reduce some of the PoM talents. I’d like to see Lightwell buffed again. But the tree doesn’t feel bad to me at all. I’m not taking too many useless talents in order to get something that’s absolutely necessary. I feel like I have choices. I mostly like it.

About Lightwell and class identity

What I mean is it is a visual cue that would let you know and feel the impact “oh, there is a priest here, awesome!” Just like whenever I see chain heal on a shaman, I feel the impact and effect that there is a shaman present.

Of course in its current state it is just some dinky whatever talent. I’m saying that in a rework it could be something cool to incorporate into the design

Oh right, yea holy priest could use more shiny vfxs to identify with.

That’s why I would also like Restitution to be baseline or accesible. Spirit of Redemption is like iconic for Hpriest, the angel form shouts holy priest everywhere, and baking it into a core aspect of the spec would look nice and identify hpriest presence.

Right. I was thinking the same thing, that spirit of redemption is also core to priest identity (although it is looking very outdated)

However, the thing about spirit of redemption is it is just kind of a massive signal to everyone that you died and is therefore mentally not very fun…. A relic of the past which is just more evidence that priest needs a massive rework

Lol yea.
But imagine restitution being baseline/accesible.
Would be a nice situational utility to have, you stop healing yourself so now you focus on 3/4 targets (M+) you get free mana healing and then you rez full hp.
And paired with Afterlife before SoR runs out you rez someone if died and you get back to life with your teammate.

That’s like peak holy caster fantasy if you ask me. Dying and rezing yourself like idk jesus lol, peak holiness.

Haha oh yeah you are right. I did catch what you were getting at, The real miracle of resurrection, coming back from the dead.

It would be a good angle, fulfilling thematic class fantasy and addressing gameplay/design issues…
