I didnt keep up with the Beta so I know i know…im late coming into this
It feels like lightsmith is overly complicated compared to Templar And Templar is just so straightforward and simple its dull.
No in-between ground here? Or am I just missing something.
And why on earth is the whole Light Hammer mechanic tied to a 45 second cooldown? My Warlock talent trees make this look like a toddler came up with it.
I’m probably wrong but, am I?
Numbers aside lightsmith is so dumb. The idea could potentially be cool but not as it is right now. Visually and gameplay underwhelming
Lightsmith is fascinating in a way.
Lightsmith’s entire shtick was that you provide yourself and someone in your group a
armament that does something, but then outside of a brief sword and shield over there heads, you’d never know.
They could have at least added a golden sword or shield around whomever had the armament.

Both seem very uninteresting to me, which is a pretty big bummer considering there’s not much really new besides hero talents for the classes.
Im a big believer that part of why paladins hero specs are not as great is the visuals. We are holy warrior we could have all the magical glowing and golden weapons, light infused FX but no. Nothing is eye candy for the hero specs.
gameplay is another big issue. Templar in its current state can be good I believe but needs a lot of polishing. herald is just a bad idea imo and lightsmith could have been the best of the three theme wise but ended up being the lamest both visually and mechanically

I think that for right now, Templar is the only option. Wowhead has it significantly higher in both + and raid.
For ret not prot.
Lincoln is quite clear that lightsmith is the better overall choice.
Templar for prot makes you commit a defensive to DPS which really isn’t ideal, you can probably make it work in raid but in M+ its a hard ask.
