Light's Judgment and Ret Mastery

I keep reading across the internet that Light’s Judgment does NOT work with Ret Paladin’s mastery, Hand of Light.

However, Hand of Light is very simple: Increases Holy damage done by X%.

That’s it.

So here’s my question: why the hell wouldn’t a racial that specifically does Holy damage not work with a mastery that specifically increases Holy damage?

Probably the same reason that DH mastery doesn’t effect any chaos damage outside the class abilities too. Blizzard hates synergy with items because they can’t balance the game well.

It doesn’t interact with Atonement either

Sucks but it’s consistent

This isn’t new. Blizz had traditionally made item/racial interactions with class skills/mastery none existant to prevent item/race choices from going too one sided.

Hand of Light actually does not really affect all holy damage. it instead affects a list of spells, and Light’s Judgment is not in that list.
