Good on them. I was hoping they would not welsh on it. They are officially self-terminated today. Hopefully Blizz will not ban me for posting a few stats. After all, its P-Servers like these that helped make the Classic dream a reality.

Again, the server is shut-down, and this is a good thing!

It’s a Private Vanilla Server who announced they would cease operations when WoW Classic was released.

Your use of periods instead of commas annoys me.

Nostalrius (private server) was closed, they sold/gave their code to Elysium. It was operated by Sheena and Crogg. White Kidney (Online Name) staged a coup against Elysium, and very literally stole the code from Sheena and Crogg. He Boot-nuked, Elysium’s servers and formed Lights Hope with the stolen data. LH announced they would be closing the server when Classic was announced.

Good riddance. That staff is the reason I never finished Naxx. But this isn’t exactly news. They announced they would hang it up soon after Blizzard first announced classic. It shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Imo those who play private servers deserve to be banned. They are playing stolen intellectual property for free. And openly flaunting it, it would seem…

This post is about the entire server shutting down. Its dead jim. All those players are currently waiting for Classic like us now. Why even bother being petty like this after the fact?

In any case, yep, they shutdown, had capital city events etc. I saw the pics on reddit. Surprisingly, and thankfully, only a few people whining about not having a “free place to play wow” anymore. Most of the community by far is ready to pay for the game now that its available to be paid for.

There wasn’t even a hope of an official Blizzard server at the time… and these players are the biggest reason (that and the hard work of the Nostalrius team and other people who put their weight in) we’re even getting Classic in the first place.

because, you can ban them from Classic before they can play, yet they can just make a new account and play the day it releases… makes 100% sense there mate…

Maybe, maybe not. Private server players are supporting theft regardless and should be banned. People are banned for buying stolen accounts… no real difference.
