Yeah, lightning shield changes are going to mean something in pvp…oh wait, no, it won’t.

I would love to hear about the lightning shield changes from your perspective exclusively regarding its impact or lack there of in pvp.

Lightning shield now currently ticks for ~500…should scale with mastery for nature dmg (unsure about this one), and procs off every melee attack received.

This stacks up quite quickly against classes that dual wield, which now allows you to have more punishing damage going out to classes like rogue, monk, dh, and other enh (any melee that attacks often).

LS has no icd atm and 50% chance to proc maelstrom weapons ensuring that you come out with at least some stacks. By now people should have learned when to pre-empt astral and what to trinket, which makes LS now a skillcap for proper pvp use.

It’s also a change for questing, but most people are done with that by now making the bulk of its impact in pvp.

This also isn’t something unusual as previous xpacs have had similar changes to LS with dmg booster considerably. It wont replace earth shield as the go to shield, but smart players in pvp will get good use out of it as the dmg is actually impactful now.

It should also send out damage to range attacks too like it used to be and yes the damage should be about 1/4 or 1/2 that of a lightning bolt.

i think the main questino is still “is it worth using over earthshield?” is the passive damage enough of a deterrent to actually make a rogue think differently about opening on a shaman? And does that change the equation enough that the healing from Earth shield is less beneficial?

I think ghost wolf and spectral recovery have some uses in pvp against some specs so yes. Spectral recovery heals passively and doesn’t require mana while ghost wolf reduces dmg taken by 20% which can be useful as a mini wall but requires some insight on what is incoming.

yeah you need to pre-ghost wolf 4 seconds ahead of time, and be doing nothing for 4 seconds. i think it stinky poo poo talent that im praying is reworked for 9.1 cuz its stinky poo poo garbage.

I wanted OP to expound on how LS is going to be useless in pvp. You ruined my bait. I’m am offend.

I been talking about LS for a week or two excited to see how CS totem/LS looks with FoF pumping into it. Have you confirmed the no internal CD?

I can confirm there is one. It’s not the 3 seconds it used to be, because most world mobs will hit slow enough to proc it every time, but if you pull two mobs and stand there taking damage only one will get the Lightning Shield return damage because the second ones attacks will sync with the ICD. Sometimes if the two packs use abilities it will ‘switch’ which one is aligned with the ICD of Lightning Shield.

I can’t post images from my account but I tested this by simply pulling two world mobs in front of my covenant house. My Details even says 100% of damage was on one target despite having two enemies pulled. The attack time for the enemies was pretty close to 3 seconds so but seemed slightly slower than the ICD of LS

Yeah looks like it’ll only work against teams with no dampening ability, when watershield won’t be a huge help.

Thats too bad. I use spirit wolf in bgs for the speed and 20% damage reduction (which can save your life when a rogue jumps you guarding a flag). Of course I use LS in that case and was hoping for something a bit more meaningful.
