Please tell me this is being looked into for SL. It boggles my mind how this animation is till in game when classes like Warlocks, Mages, and Priests have incredible animations now. Current LB looks is so bland and meager, even the sound is just bzzt bzzt. Where is the thunder? This lightning bolt from Skyrim is so fantastic to use, i love hurling lightning bolts and would love to do the same in WoW. Considering how much we use lightning bolts it is so meh to see the current animation when we already have animations in game!
Unfortunately, Blizzard likes making beautiful spells only for NPC shamans. They have even stopped making new icons for us, players.

Functional and beautiful man, our overhaul for BFA was subpar then we are unpruned and still incomplete. Yet there are plenty of mob abilities that would make huge leaps and bounds in the right direction for us.
All we can do is talk about it on the forums.

Well we are not the only one with this issue. Look at basically all of the dk spells and abilities bland AF. At least with us its only a few abilities. I do agree this needs to be updated I also think Ascendance should also be updated.

Yeah, I’ve said it many times, but the pally blade of justice spell (which seems out of place for pally. Stabbing someone from underneath doesn’t seem very “just.” Make it purple and green, and replace faster strike.

100% lightning bolt and chain lighting need new visuals-- also ascendance and lava beam (it looks pathetic!) lol

To be honest I don’t even notice half the time. I am too busy watching all the other classes use their pretty visuals to look at mines. I really don’t like the watery healing spells either… like I get the point of what they were doing but it doesn’t look like they put any thoughts into the animations at all. Oh shamans use water to heal… lets make all their spells use water animations… BRILLIANT!

I get sad a little anytime I fight a mob using crackling and awesome lightning magic, hurtling tornados, throwing boulders/rocks, using water as a weapon. My Shaman throws his little MS paint bzzt bzzt and meat ball lava.

100%.
We could have cooler moves, not just lightning bolt that sounds like a mosquito light. buzz buzz

I disagree about the sound.
Maybe the charging up (casting) portion of the spell might sound a like a buzz, but the actual spell impact sound is a punchy explosion and I think works very well.
Its just the 2D image used for the spell that gets me.

agreed, I actually like the noise but the 2d ms paint squiggle is so garbage

Agreed, it looks so damn silly and out of place. I want my class to not only play well but to look cool when casting spells/attacks. It really does irk me how ugly lightning bolt is at the moment.
Who is advocating for this spell visual, who asked for this spell to look like this? Does anyone enjoy this terrible graphic?

I personally think the current lightning bolt isn’t bad at all. The crusade happening to improve it seems more like a fad to me than a worthwhile siege.
That’s just me though.
I personally think you’re blind

What? Not bad at all? It looks like it was created in MS paint using the zig zag tool. It does not reflect lightning and looks meager and like a blue noodle. Shaman deserve better. Have you not seen other classes and their stellar animations?

Part of the problem is I can’t stop seeing all of the stellar animations and fancy effects of other classes, masking ground mechanics that Blizzard can’t seem to help but make either a different shade of the ground it was cast on or based on the direction one mob in a large pack happens to be facing.
The game could use some more muted effects, imo, and seeing thick, flashy lines streaming from a Shaman isn’t exactly the right answer. I admit the effect could be better, but I don’t think it’s as bad as everyone is saying.
WoW could take a page from FF XIV’s book. One of FFs settings is the ability to turn down, or off, other players spell effects.
Players who like all the flashy effects can keep them on, and other players who don’t want them can turn them off. Everyone wins
