Lightlord Ragnaros will come

Consider the following timeline

  • Date unknown: The Arathi Empire founds a religion that worships the Sacred Flame
  • 28 ADP: Ragnaros is slain in the the Firelands, permanently killing him.
  • 32 ADP: Lord Smolderon ascends as Firelord in Ragnaros’s place
  • 40 ADP: Lord Smolderon is slain in at Amirdrassil, and his essence is consumed by Fyrakk, presumably killing him.
  • 42 ADP: The extremists among the Arathi of Hallowfall begin practicing light based Necromancy

So now we have no Firelord, and a group of religious extremists who worship fire and light interchangeably, and can use light magic to raise the dead.

I think whichever expansion we visit the Arathi Empire in, the Church of the Sacred Flame will resurrect Ragnaros as the embodiment of the Sacred Flame, subjecting Azeroth’s elemental fire to the Light.

This will make Paladins very happy and Shamans very unhappy, leading to the first Alliance/Horde conflict in which the Alliance are the ones in the wrong.

How can they resurrect a soul that ceased to exist?

Ragnaros is as dead as Garrosh or Varian. His soul was extinguished in its final plane of existence.

If the Light can infect Elementals, then maybe. Idk if it’d be Rag himself though.

I think the Void has been shown to actually be able to corrupt Elementals with way more ease.

Idk if we’ve ever seen a Light Elemental that just wasn’t pure light.

Like, an Earth-Light Hybrid Elemental.

Though, slight spoilers here- Midnight has holy plant elementals. And it seems the Light leeching into the ground is creating uncontrolled growth.

Dark iron we’re doing a ritual to bring him back before we stopped them

Apparently they just kind of dissipate throughout the realm and not get deleted

I thought that was when they are extinguished outside of their elemental plane? But when inside their elemental plane they’re finished.

Yeah, they follow similar rules to demons and the Twisting Nether.

As far as I know, Al’akir is also fully dead since we killed him within Skywall.

Therazane and Neptulon are the only original elemental lords left.

Apparently it’s a they can’t come back via their our power and instead need others to re-gather their essence kinda deal

Cuz those dark irons were real sure the ritual would bring him back

This is also blizz tho, can change this whenever needed lol

“Live, insect!”

Now a popular world quest where you fight Void beings and when you are low on health, Ragnaros heals you yelling that.

Yeah, I play a Dark Iron as well so that bit of lore intrigued me:

-Battle for Azeroth-

A group of Dark Iron dwarves called the Cult of Ragnaros were attempting to revive the former Firelord in the Firelands because they saw Moira Thaurissan as a weak leader for the Dark Irons. Ragnaros’ remains were still in the lava pool where he originally fell. They were stopped by an Alliance adventurer and Anvil-Thane Thurgaden, who had come to the Firelands to rebuild the Black Anvil and weren’t initially aware of the cult’s existence. However, the cult’s apparent leader High Justice Grimstone still lives.[21] Despite the cult’s goals it is currently unknown if Ragnaros can be revived.

If they succeeded, we would’ve had our answer.

I choose to believe it would work cuz it opens up cool potential in the future, same with Al’akir potential resurrection

Not emerald dream guy tho cuz he was a replacement

The Firelands aren’t the final plane of existence, they’re just a prison Helya put all the Fire Elementals in.

Kill him outside of the Firelands > Not actually dead, reforms in the Firelands.

Kill him in the Firelands > Actually dead, goes to the Shadowlands.

But being dead isn’t as permanent as it looks since Necromancy is a thing.

Also Varian isn’t totally destroyed. He’s chilling with the Windrunners in the generic heaven Sylvanas almost went to. We didn’t meet him in Shadowlands because that afterlife wasn’t relevant to the Jailor’s plan.

Random wild-(butt) speculation AND fanning the flames of stupid Alliance-Horde faction-fanatics forum fights.

0/10, OP.

I don’t think elementals go to the Shadowlands.

Why wouldn’t they? They’re living things, and when living things die they go to the Shadowlands.

If not, then there’s probably some elemental equivalent.

The point is, the Firelands and all other elemental planes are artificial constructs crafted by Helya. They are not the natural destination for destination for elemental souls, and being slain there is not the same as Garosh disenchanting his own soul to kill the Jailor’s middle management.

Every word of that sentence (well, clause) makes me violently angry.

I’m pretty sure there’s a WQ in Bastion for Kyrian via the anima conductor where you judge souls and one is an elemental, and the Kyrian tell us we send them back to their reality because the Shadowlands doesn’t have jurisdiction over other planes of existence. They do the same with demons and naruu.

Well then there’s probably some other place they go to.

But that other place isn’t the Firelands, because the Firelands are built by Helya as a holding cell for Azeroth’s fire elementals specifically.

If someone dies in a jail cell that doesn’t mean their soul is now claimed by jail.

I think ghosts haunt the places they die, so yeah it would be claimed by jail. :stuck_out_tongue:

To be fair, there’s a thingamajig in Zereth Mortis that implies it’s possible.

I think the fact that something like Lothraxian exists, this is plausible and could happen to Rag.
