Lightforged or regular Draenei?

What racials' are better for a prot' pally' - Lightforge or regular spacegoat?

I like the HOT on the regular but I'm tempted to race change to Lightforged.
I'd stick with Draenei as the healing would be more beneficial than the damage unless you're finding that threat is an issue.

If you're open to other races Dwarf is great for the stoneform to remove curse, disease, magic, bleed, poison debuffs. Healers will thank you.
regular draenei for prot.

Regular Draenei racials are superior to Lightforged for tanking.

I wasnt sure if stone form was still in existence. So many racials have been tweaked or totally changed over the years

I half thought about faction changing for the simple fact that I absolutely love the plate armor sets Alliance has. Only question is Draenei or Human…

Ignore these nerds, lightforged draenei racial is hilariously powerful for pally, especially prot. It scales with attack power and your mastery increases attack power while on most DPS specs it does not. Go LFD, no contest. That tiny little heal from regular goat racial is literally irrelevant but the LFD orbital cannon is beast damage on a big aoe pull. You can get more than enough tankiness without needing racials. Extra tankiness beyond what is necessary is wasted but extra damage is never wasted.

Plus they look better and have fancy horns. I wish I could go LFD as DK.

LFD is the jam. Space laser just does so much burst dmg it’s worth having.

So what I’m hearing is LFD has a good Nuke with space cannon pulls and increases DMG with mastery/attack power. This helps gain aggro and kill everything better.

The regular Draenei has a good HOT but I use that when the heals are not comming in or soloing.

So I have to decide if I want to kill faster and gain aggro better or heal myself better.

As it stands now I gain and keep aggro just fine. Ranged casters I just shield-throw and silence them to me. But when my %heal is on cool down I have to LOH/bubble+flash of light/or use my racial HOT.

I have to say as a tank I don’t care about dps at all if I can stand there and get hit for an hour and still kill the dam thing. And in a group I think that helps more than being able to do more Damage. The Draenei Heal Over Time /HOT is more valuable to me because it scales and heals a good chunk of my HP just fine in a pinch.

Within a good group I never need to heal my self or kill faster. So I guess this question only applys to (off-groups) and soloing which is about 80% of the game for me. Soloing the last cannon in the Seige of Boralus after everyone dies on mythic 0+ = is priceless. I’ll keep my regular space :goat: goat Draenei.

Thank you all for helping me decide.
May the light guide you.

I have been leveling up this Lightforged Draenei for the past couple months as Protection Paladin. I also have a regular Draenei mage at lvl 113. Between Flash Heal, Lay on Hands and Hand of the Protector(instant cast every 15 seconds) healing spells, I am very rarely ever in need of extra healing. I do however love the AOE burst damage of Light’s Judgement, it really speeds things up on those pack of 5-6 pulls. This is purely from a quest leveling standpoint. For a Prot Paladin my vote would be Lightforged.

Lightforged for the win baby!

From Icy-veins: Strength increases the Armor gained from Shield of the Righteous as well as attack power.

Heroic presence provides you with an extra 425 strength (based upon level). If your goal is to survive, then Draenei is your best bet. Couple that with the HoT from Gift of the Naaru (+20% hp over 5 seconds) and you shouldn’t die too often.

Lightforged Draenei is more about damage/dealing damage. In progression raiding, surviving is more important than the tank squeezing out as much damage as possible. It’s still important, just not the end all. Despite this, most players won’t be progression raiding or pushing high m+ keys. In that case, LFD is your best bet to make your average m+ or heroic raid run go smoothly and to help out the dps with a little extra damage.

Lightforged for that Heritage Armor.
