Lightforged Draenei Monks

Worgen and goblins can’t be monks, either.

Problem is, trying to think up a logical reason for this doesn’t work when other races of a similar nature can be ones.

Monks were trained by the Pandaren visitors of their region. I don’t know how a Pandaren would have made it to the Twisting Nether to meet up with the Lightforged before we met them on Argus. They had no contact with the ways of the Monks.

Monks are also presented as a very philosophical and spiritual class, and Lightforged Draenei only seem interested in one ideology-- the Light. They probably discard all others as lesser and even frivolous. I think it’s generally accepted that the only reason they have the Shadow specialization avaiable to them is because they’ll never restrict access to one spec of one class just for lore reasons. Also see: Holy Void Elves.

Why would such an ideologically rigid group like the LIghtforged Draenei allow for an ideology other than the Light?

The only real exception to this ideological predisposition is the Death Knight, but recent events have shown that this rebirth really isn’t up to them. But I don’t think they should’ve had it anyway.

Maybe it’s because they have their own equivalent to monk who is also using kicks and potions in combat:

Undead and Void Elves can be Monks, let’s not be silly.

Light forged got DKs before they got monks. Let that sink in.

All this sinking… I should have bought some water wings, or some other flotation device.

There are reasons, important reasons. However they are classified top secret - as in really top secret as in past the cow level even. Let that sink in.

The real reason? Blizz is making this stuff up as they go along and don’t always pay attention to lore or story or logic.

That has nothing to do with why the Lightforged can’t. Void Elves and Undead are more flexible in their ideologies.

This exists. Yet being lightforged makes them forget about it?
It’s right there on Mac’Aree.

There are really only three classes that make sense for Lightforged, and one of them has a spec that should be off limits.

We follow the one true Light, not pretender glowing beasts.

Because there are no Pandaren on the Vindicaar, so there are no Lightforged Draenei Monks.

I agree. They should have shaman too. I genuinely don’t get why they didn’t have access to those two classes.

And don’t give me that “on they can’t talk elements because they weren’t on draenor” crap. If they can be deathknights where they are literally corpses now infused with the light they can be a dang shaman.

What races really make sense / look good as monks?

  • Pandas
  • Humans
  • Vulpera?

A bunch of the monk race combos look stupid. Kul’tirans are the worst, since they suddenly have unnatural flexibility for the panda animations.

Pandas are chubby too.

Lightforged Draenei Rogues as well.

Yeah but their whole aesthetic is kind of “squishy / bouncy”. Kultirans are burly and strong in most of their animations… And then you cast a monk spell and they are suddenly doing the splits.

I really like my Vulpera, not necessarily for animations or theme, but more because I gave him Eskhandar’s claws. (Jindofin on Terenas, if you want to see)

My favorite, though, is my Forsaken, because I get the feeling that inner peace has overcome the rigidity of undeath, allowing him to perform all of these kung fu moves.

Maybe they believe they are channeling the Light. Insanity at work. You might see purple blue beams of evil but maybe they see pure golden beams holy power from their hands.

And Void Form to them is a Seraph form complete with 6 angelic wings.

All in their head.

There’s Draenei monks in Outlands dungeons too.
At what timeline did those draenei split from their kin?
