Light of Dawn needs to have a 40 yrd range baseline.
The spell already requires the player to aim properly for effective use and the strength of the heal will already taper off with distance due to the nature of our mastery. It shouldn’t require a legendary power to make this spell useful.
I think it just needs to not be a holy power spender. Make it cost mana and have the big HP spender be something else or an ability that boost the hell out of Light of Dawn so it’s more AOE.
Couldn’t agree more. I’m tired of seeing azerite pieces and legendaries band-aid fix such a stupid problem. If they want us to build holy power in melee range you need to allow us to easily heal ranged clumps. Rule of Law shouldn’t exist with this playstyle in a pve setting anymore, it’s just so dumb.
Definitely should’ve been made 40 yards baseline a long time ago, I would also prefer it to be an actually AoE smart heal as well to really line up with other healers, but eh at least we have a group heal.
I don’t mind so much having to aim the spell, but it’s just not practical being limited to 15 yrds when most groups have 2 ranged dps way off in No Man’s Land. When our mastery already dictates that the spell would offer ranged dps less healing, what’s the point of ensuring they receive none whatsoever?
This is also strongly impacted by mechanics that affect melee as well. Typically when you want to be able to heal multiple players, there’s some mechanic forcing players to run away from eachother.
Tried using LoD last night in a raid setting and it brought down my HPS and total heals as compared to using WoG and splash heals on beacons (I was trying out beacon of light).
It wasn’t like a 20HPS drop, it was a 400HPS drop.
Mind you this was LFR but it still felt bad having such a good button go bad.
It’s quite strong in raid on heroic and above. It’ll be your #1 heal in some fights. It’s very good as a spender but it does require that all 5 targets are injured (and within range) to be better than word of glory.
