Lich king doing during ulduar?

So we kill Kel thuzad which might upset the Lich king then the next raid tier he is just gone until his next appearance at togc.

What was he doing that whole time?

Did he just take a nap

Is he scared of yogg

He was practicing his ā€˜Old Man Smithers’ face in the mirror.

It’s the jailor’s plan you see. This is around step 300 on a 1000 step plan.

Even then he knew…he needed us to kill argus. its all part of the plan.

I envy the pure classic players here. all you ahve to rant about is a mad dragon wrecking the world. or maybe they bailed at mists.

others…we cannot unsee what we have seen.

lorewise, yogg knows of LK and LK knows of yogg, yet their interactions are about nonexistent.

two dominant superpowers on the Northrend continent, and they have no relationships beyond indifference.

WOTLK lore is truly top notch.

Sire Denathrius set that up via dreadlords.

that dude was just that good.

blizzard even said there was suppose to be a big connection between them but they failed to deliver, the only connection is lich king uses saronite aka yogg blood for everything and yogg briefly talks about him in one of the brain visions. WoW overall lore was very disappointing in this time period

It definitely does, considering they seemed to have a friendship of sorts in Warcraft 3, I think that’s probable.

I was wondering this also. Considering the state of Northrend when you arrive, it seems his power is waning (his imperial power, not literally his scourge powers). The forces he sent to attack the incoming forces in Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra defeated, the Crypt Fiends destroyed by the Horde, the defenses around Naxxramas destroyed by the Alliance, Zul’Drek under siege, his Vykrul allies in disarray and everywhere but Ice Crown Citadel outside of his firm grasp. Even in the ICC zone there are attacks on the very facilities used to create Scourge soldiers.

Naxxramas eventually gets raided and Kel’Thuzad slain once more, leaving it (presumably) an empty fortress in the sky that he can no longer command a strike force from. All this taking place after he spent resources to spread plagued grain into Azeroth proper, invading it and failing.

He’s likely stuck inside ICC, clinging to the fortress and the remaining troops he has. He’s completely on the defensive. The fact the Argent Tournament happens at all on his doorstep and he doesn’t go out to meet it with an army is a testament to how weak his position is.

I don’t think he cares to intervene on Yogg Saron’s behalf. The Alliance/Horde are sending you in while they off screen deal with the Scourge army.

This is just what I think.

to make the lich king not look like a total jabroni, you probably know this but after icc the lore says he deliberately let all that happen as trials so he can forge/enslave the strongest champions and if he wanted to he could have sent a billion scourge to kill us all at any time lol

Lore and Wow never have been a really good fit.
In the classic warcraft lore, a ret pally should be like a harbringer of destruction when it comes to decimating undeads, potentially slaying them by the thousands, whilst being alone.
A competent druid / shaman would be even more OP, depending on the natural / elemental control and the environment.

But i have no clue how much the warcraft lore of the old has been rewritten, probably a lot.

All the holy water in northrend from the ret tears throughout p1 until they got buffed managed to keep him locked in his citadel until p3 where it begins to evaporate.

The jailor was preparing him by keeping him in ice on his seat of power. I want to know though was he allowed bathroom breaks otherwise his armor is nasty when he dies.

Good thing its plate.

If you’ve read the novel about Arthas, you might see that indifference is his primary character trait. It’s actually really frustrating. I think Christie Golden made him an utterly stupid character.

Anyways, it makes sense that they don’t interact. The Burning Legion wants to see the Old Gods destroyed, and being that Arthas is a mere servant of the Burning Legion, that goal probably extends to him as well. There’s nothing Arthas can do against an Old God, so it wouldn’t make sense for him to go looking to fight them. An imprisoned Old God can’t really do much of anything, but even if it could, I don’t really see a great reason why it would care much about Arthas in the grand scheme of things.

That they don’t interact makes perfect sense in the lore.

That’s cuz LK knew he would touch clouds so he never wanted to fight Yogg.

He’s a cloud enjoyer.

The Lich King is in the ā€œUnavailableā€ Alterac Valley queue, still waiting.

He’s raid logging because of that boring Ulduar raid makes you hate wow till you can stop doing it. By far worst raid in WoW history.

I was under the impression that the LK and Yogg are enemies, mostly due to the fact that undead are immune to old god mind control/enslavement and that they both seek to control Azeroth and the living as a whole.

But it’s also not in their interest to fight each other, especially when the living are invading Northrend.

I don’t think old god minions are susceptible to the plague either. Neither of them really have anything to gain from fighting each other since they can’t just enslave the others’ defeated armies.

But as others stated, they do interact. one is mining saronite and the other is watching… with hungry eyes.

it’s sad that there’s no world dynamics beyond us vs them.

the trolls and the scourge have more interaction in Zul’drak.

I mean, that’s because their paths specifically intersect. :man_shrugging: By nature, Arthas and the Old Gods have no business with or against one another.

Both the Scourge and the Old Gods are known for their co-existing approach to things…

bro. those guys wouldn’t even notice the ā€˜living’ races, they’d be perpetually in conflict along the entire contact line of ICC and Storm Peaks. it’s be like a DotA game basically, where they are the two faction NPCs.
