Liberation of Undermine Story Mode Won't Complete?

I’ve run it 5 times and haven’t gotten it complete on this character yet. I ran it on other characters last week and before and story mode completed it.

  1. I ran it last night but had to log as soon as I teleported out, I didn’t turn in the quest and I didn’t notice if I could. I logged in this morning and see it isn’t complete. Thinking I left too soon, I queued up again and ran story mode, it didn’t complete.
  2. I disabled all of my addons, thinking it was a cinematic stopper, nope. I was leaving through right click portrait > leave so I decided to run it again.
  3. Addons off, watched the cinematic, talked to the goblin to leave, it didn’t complete.
  4. I abandoned the quest and ran it again, just like 3, it didn’t complete.
  5. I left the zone, logged in on another character, played for a bit, went back to this character, ran it just like 3, didn’t complete.

About the only thing I haven’t tried is queueing up LFR or Heroic and see if it completes, but I really don’t want to go through that with this character, his gear/stats are trash.

Is anyone else having trouble with this and figured out a way to get story mode to work?

I haven’t had an issue on my main or two alts. What does the quest say? Does it just say “kill Gallywix” or whatever?

op was you in a raid group by any chance?
or join a raid group after the fight?

Bro, queue up LFR Gally, it’s the only fight in the instance. And takes a handful of minutes with how strong everyone else is at this point.

I am sorry about the bug and recommend reporting it, but LFR or normal counts for the quest (note on the quest hub it says Story Mode is optional).

Considering it is a raid quest, I don’t think that would impact the ability to get progress from it. It would be strange for story mode raid to not count while LFR and every other difficulty still gives progress when killing him in a raid.

Do it on LFR if you can, it still counts.

And it’s arguably more fun.

I’ve never had a wipe on him.

In fact, the only-ever wipe I’ve had in LFR, in the entire raid, was Rik Reverb lol.

Not enough people standing in near the speakers when he cranks it up.

When you join a raid group you get a message that quests outside the raid are unavailable to complete.

Literally the game itself stops you from completing quests if you’re part of a raid group. Aside from world bosses

It definitely should’ve counted. I’d encourage a UI reset and/or abandoning the quest and reacquiring.

Yes, but killing Gallywix can only happen in a raid group in every form besides Story mode, you can’t even enter the raid without being in a raid group. That restriction doesn’t apply to raid quests.

If you were in a raid group before, didn’t leave or get kicked and forgot before queueing up story mode now you’re in the wrong kind of raid group.

Except for raid quests. Killing Gallywix is a raid quest. You’re literally in a raid group with NPCs for the Story Mode. And Story Mode isn’t required for the quest. It’s simply an option.
