The reality is that you can’t really reconcile religion with LGBTQ+. (This puts religion at fault, just to be clear)
You either forego the teachings of religion/established texts, in which case you’re picking and choosing what to take out of religion, or you’re against LGBTQ+. To be clear, it’s great to take lessons from all philosophies and schools of teaching. But in the case of religion, you’re kinda on one side of the fence or you’re not.
Not to get all debate-y in the thread, but I’d just recommend you instead focus more on spirituality than “belonging” to a particular religion.
Totally agree though, otherwise. No rational person inherently dislikes a person’s lifestyle, provided that person isn’t causing harm to others. It’s stuff we’re taught at a young age that we don’t question and better understand that causes problems and is effectively a life-long gaslight.
