This is fine and all, but I feel like a lot of people’s immediate response to someone saying their gay is “I don’t want to hear about your sex life”. Which imo is just some veiled homophobia.
holy so WRONG…its private and like other peoples lives…just because another and whatever sex class you wish to id with doesn’t want to hear it doesn’t make it a phobia.

People have told me that several times, yet cant explain why my kids trusted me and only me or cant answer why I stood up for them to their parents.
In the end people have a right to say I dont want to hear about anything they dont want to hear about. I dont like people showing up at my door taking my time so they can spread the good news. I assume you reserve the right to say “I dont want to hear about your God” or would that make you some kind of phobic deserving of derision?

I agree completely, and now I understand better what you meant about assuming. Whatever our differences, at the end of the day we all have the very human need of just wanting to be loved and accepted. If more people kept that in mind when they are debating, then debates wouldn’t devolve into the insult slinging that they so often do.
It’s wonderful to meet someone who can see this!

I completely agree with your point about respect. I am LGBT, have gay friends, and have had to have a few conversations with some of my friends about how they verbally objectify other men. It’s disrespectful regardless of your sexuality.
