[LFRP] EU RP'er now moved to Australia and looking for an appropriate guild or RP scene

Hellooo

So, I used to roleplay in the EU on the Argent Dawn server as a Sin’dorei Ranger/Farstrider + Spellbow, but due to circumstances (mainly covid and family worries) I had to move to Western Australia, so I had to really leave it behind.

That said, I have been wanting to go back to doing WoW RP but was dismayed to find no Oceanic RP realm, a quick google search or two later I found that Moon Guard was pretty populated for RP so I thought I’d try my luck here.

Although honestly I have no idea how different (or if there’s any RP) at all that an Aussie could do on Moon Guard so I’m reluctant to commit a character through game time or a subscription until I find out more.

My main questions are, what are the Sin’dorei/the broader RP communities like? Are there any Oceania guilds or Oceania-welcoming guilds (or for that matter how do Aussie RP’ers interact on here in general)?

Also, it’s worthwhile to mention this, but I do have a hand injury which largely effects my ability to type fast, to the point where I have to use a virtual keyboard to type. So are there any guilds which would be tolerant of someone with this disability?

Hey there! Fellow EU resident who moved to the Oceanic region here. I made my own thread just a week or so ago about this very same topic and have been playing on the US servers off and on again for some years now.

The short version is: There isn’t really any dedicated Aussie/Oceanic RP guilds or communities that I’ve been able to find. Occassionally one pops up (I know Wyrmrest had one for a while) but they don’t tend to remain for very long. The biggest differences you can only really experience for yourself, as fellow Argent Dawn veteran I can promise you that the RP communities are very different between the EU and the US. For example mature RP is a lot more accepted on the US servers as well as more outlandish concepts like San’layn, sure they’re not the most popular but unlike Argent Dawn there’s enough open minded RPers willing to interact with them that they manage to sustain themselves.

From what I’ve been able to glean, our best option would be to find one of the more active / larger RP guilds/communities and sign up with them. There’s enough night owls and a handful of OCE players out there that you shouldn’t struggle to find RP during our evenings. If you don’t mind it, Stormwind has RP at all hours of the day on Moonguard alliance.

As someone who moved from Europe myself, this is your best bet. If you are seeking RP in “odd hours”, you are most likely going to find it on MG-A. I don’t know if there are Horde guilds who are consistently active in the off hours; I know from experience that any casual/walk-up RP will be hard to find on Horde during those hours.

As far as your typing is concerned, that is not an issue at all. A lot of people have disclaimers even in their TRP about typing or response time (for various reasons), and I have never seen it be an issue.

And lastly, welcome to MG! As the poster above said, US servers are a bit different from AD for sure, but you’ll pick up on things soon!

You might want to join some community discord servers to take a look around as well. Often people post their projects, guilds and a lot of server events.

Thank you for your responses

Thanks, I was kinda hoping something like that could be around, what are the Moon Guard servers? Only ones I found so far were The Horde Vanguard and The Silver Covenant.

That’s great, I remember finding it very hard to find mature RP (as in like appropriate gritty stories for Farstriders on Argent Dawn).

Heyo and welcome to NA! When I first started a bit ago, I found joining one of the bigger servers opened up finding all of the others - Usually linked in events/associated projects/etc. etc.

For Alliance/Neutral/Event things, I’d recommend the Grand Alliance/Conquest discords:

discord. gg/7PVbEQZ || discord. gg/gsbdHE9 (both spaced cause haha link requirement)
