LFR should not give deserter debuff if we join after a partial clear

So, I understand the deserter debuff, but what I do not agree with is when an instance is in progress, and one or more bosses of the wing are down already… I think that you know where I am going with this… I think that there should be an option somewhere, or ask when the queue pops if you are ok with entering an instance that is half done. I for one am sometimes ok with it, but when I am queuing with the intention of downing all of the bosses myself, then come into a encounter that I cannot do that, it is bs to force a deserter debuff on us for it.

You can actually avoid the deserter debuff in such a situation. I always leave any in-progress LFR I get dumped into. The trick is to make sure you are not in combat with anything (that includes trash mobs) BEFORE you leave. This will avoid the deserter debuff.

It never used to, until degenerates started leaving a dungeon after one boss fight over a trinket in a dungeon, which had nothing to do with LFR, but screwed us all anyway.

The popup used to say how many were cleared. :frowning:

I remember that, and I was fine with having to requeue for it if I was not wanting an instance that was half cleared, but other times I was ok with it, just depended on how long that I had already been waiting

This is exactly why it was removed.
This existed for Dragon Soul, and only Dragon Soul.

People would see the partially complete run and decline the queue. You might get some DPS in due to long queue times, but if the partial run had lost tanks and healers, yeah, those roles would decline the queue nearly every time, as their requeue time was only a couple of minutes.

This left the groups lacking members to sit and wait indefinitely, and the result was often the disbanding of the group entirely, potentially after waiting an hour or more, because no sane tank or healer wanted to waste their time in that way.

The boss indicator was removed to ensure partial runs could find replacements. A couple people being put into a partial run to complete it is preferable to 20 people having to disband and do it all again because their tanks left.

But it just adds an additional step of loading in and then leaving when you’re not in combat, ergo not getting a penalty.

S’pose the difference is the guilt factor of people seeing you join and then leave.

Says it shouldn’t give deserter rebuff

Deserting group

I mean, at some point you would just get deserter if you left before killing at least 1 boss.
If that’s not how it’s currently functioning it’s more of a bug than a feature.

(and I think at present it would be “before finishing the instance”, the 1 boss this was before the early TWW changes)

What we got was a knee jerk reaction by blizzard and the real “degenerates” didn’t see a lick of punishment… the entire player base has though.

LFR wasn’t even out yet when this change was made. There was little thought as to how the deserter debuff (for all queued content) would work in loot locked LFR by Blizzard. They have yet to change anything… so this is the intended result.

A chain deserter debuff in LFR for backfilling… where just one real deserter will potentially cause many many people to be marked by a deserter debuff (in a loot locked situation). This debuff won’t actually work itself out (will keep chaining to others) unless a backfiller either forfeits the loot off of the boss they missed and doesn’t go back at all or they clear the entire thing all over again from start to finish.

I honestly think the knee jerk reaction, the lack of communication surrounding this issue once LFR came out and the fact that they’ve let this issue fester for months and months with no correction is actually quite appalling.

I don’t think there should be a debuff for anything you can que for but that’s just me I guess.

I am definitely annoyed. Don’t put us in LFR groups halfway if we are going to get deserter for leaving when we circle back and get in a group to pick up the first boss or whatever we missed when we were pulled into a partial. I get the mplus, but LFR, come on…especially when we have zero control of what stage we get pulled into an LFR group.

But if you leave an in-progress LFR, wouldn’t you be sending someone else into the same in-progress LFR?

Finish your plate people, there are hungry raiders who need full clears.

said it once, will say it again; lfr replacements need a bonus/satchel. could be extended to any other dungeons. some g or and item to sell would be a good comp.
