LFR needs some minor changes

First, if you sign up as X role it should force you into X role. And I am not just talking about healers and tanks being in DPS spec, but DPS being in heals and tank spec is also happening.

Maybe they forgot to change, maybe they are using the warbound trick to game the system and don’t want to die, who knows, but joining LFG forces you into the spec you chose, why does LFR also not do the same?

Second, I think it is about time we went the one tank route, change certain mechanics to allow a single tank to do it all. For example, when a tank buster goes off the single tank can taunt the boss off themselves onto themselves? and mitigate that effect.

Third, put an immunity timer on the boss for obvious reasons.

Seeing people in the wrong spec, seeing at times both tanks in DPS or heals spec, or multiple heals in DPS spec, and some DPS decides it’s go time even when there are a number of people who are still outside the raid.

Blizzard can make some good changes to allow LFR to just, be better. Not all of us who join LFR are over geared and think it’s easy, not all of us know the fights, some people are there for the first time, or to learn about raids and to get practice, I even see people stating it’s their first time tanking or healing and if there is anything they need to know, but impatient players just can’t wait a minute and think the whole world revolves around them.

And yes for what it’s worth, I still see wipes even this late in the season. Mainly because of the two tank issue where one tank is not tanking, they simply refuse to tank or have zero idea about what they are doing and that can cause wipes. Queen with 2 lower iLVL tanks needs both tanks to do the right thing or one tank can die, and being LFR you sometimes have to beg for a bres to be used, and to be used on the tank or healer. I see wipes when a DPS decides to pull 0.3 seconds after getting to the boss before anyone else shows up, and I see wipes when multiple healers are not in heals spec.

Earlier tonight I had the second tank who simply refused to do anything, 633 iLVL doing less than healer DPS. They got called out for being in DPS spec, swapped over and all they were doing was auto attack damage, they got vote kicked mid fight.

LFR is in a sad state currently, and with it being for many players the first step into raiding, it doesn’t really leave a good impression.

I am not reading all that but I do agree with your first point. When I que into a dungeon it automatically changes me to my spec and gear for that spec, it does not do that in LFR, and half the time the tanks just face pull before half the raid is even zoned in, making it so I cant change.

I wouldn’t normally notice when I’m tanking, but when I see a druid in bear form and it’s a guardian, that’s beyond weird.

TL;DR:

  • Forced specs
  • Boss immunity to allow everyone to get ready and zone in
  • Maybe it’s time for a single tank option

Why though? I understand that if one tank is totally clueless it can cause problems but where else is that tank going to learn the concept of tank swaps? LFR is the first opportunity for a tank to see this in action and learn it.

Also means 1 tank for 20+ DPS/heals. So while it may improve dps/heal queue times it’s going to hurt tank queues and make people less likely to bother.

The rest I don’t really take any issue with. Definitely agree people should be placed in the role they queue for.

Should be for dungeons too, but yes agreed it hurts the raid and wind up kicking the DPS who signed up to be a healer/tank waisting our time waiting for an actually healer/tank replacement to move the gameplay forward.

Personal loot would be nice too.

I like all of those ideas.

I’ve had scuffed LFR queues as tank, some weeks ago I solo tanked Court, while in queue looking for a second tank, that went fine enough, but on Queen we tried there with a single tank.

Die, bres, die again, bres. Bres any healers who die along the way during P2, manage to make it up top with most of the group alive and kill the boss, all the while still being in queue without a second tank ever showing up.

That’s like 20 minutes of waiting, tank queues are not an issue, if anything having one tank per raid would mean mechanics would be adjusted to allow it to happen so you can get started quicker, but if there was more tanks, maybe even a reduction in healers needed, it would mean more DPS can get in faster also.

It already is a thing for dungeons. And in a way it annoys me a little bit, like when I ‘tank’ a TW dungeon in Fury spec at level 10 with 2 x crusader enchants, I need to swap into fury every time I sign up because it changes me to tank spec.
