Discounting the fact that raid mechanics for a group of mouth breathing randos are a bit more smartly done in xiv, I don’t feel like I get screwed out of loot every week and generally have a chance to gear up. At the very least I can run again until I do get something.
I have given up on LFR in DF i think, this isn’t worth the time or effort.
Ok
Cool, go play that game.
Go back to your game, we didn’t ask you.
please don’t fanboy over poor design.
LFR should be a separate raid tier not dependent on the current rain mechanics so that it can focus on gross abilities instead of pinpoint accuracy.
And the loot problem is already widely known. Its just a shame.
Your odds of getting loot aren’t actually any better in FFXIV.
The difference is that having gear tokens drop on every boss makes it much easier to determine if loot is even useful for you.
Will say that FFXIV’s Tomestone system (which is just the badge system from WoW, except they never abandoned it) is something WoW could stand to emulate.
Your odds of getting loot in FFXIV LFR is 100% if you have the time to re-queue. You are not loot-locked by participating, you are loot-locked by winning loot.
(Granted, that’s idiotic and if it works that way they should just remove the roll entirely and let you grab the token you want per boss instead, waste everyone’s time less)
But you’re also hard locked to a single won role in new content.
Eh. The one that drops tokens, you get a token per boss. So you can either get 1 big piece or like 2-4 small pieces. Up to you how to split up your winnings.
The one that drops loot doesn’t matter because it’s worse than dungeon currency loot anyway. (assuming you’re not doing higher content to be able to upgrade it or whatever)
You are guarenteed at least one piece of loot a week through great vault. Do 6 raid bosses and you have 3 loot to chose from in lfr.
Plus the normal loot drops. I been doing lfr for the Raz form and no dice yet, but gear doesn’t seem to hard to come by since a lot of people get locked out of loot if you intentionally gimp your characters.
On the negative side I can’t role for certain pieces of loot on some characters because they got the higher piece through the weekly event and that means I can only farm the mogs on other characters who weren’t so lucky.
I have also won multiple pieces off one boss and that’s crazy and gone runs without loot from lfr for a week. Lol the rng is a mess sometimes.
But then you have to run LFR.
Im farming mogs anyway since you have so little charges. better to get some from lfr and the rest from mythic plus. If you just want ilvl upgrades doing mythic plus or pugging normal is just better.
Why do people say FF XIV players aren’t toxic and then we have peeps like OP ?
I’m not being toxic at all. But as we can see the wow community still is.
Unless you want another shadowlands, it would be best to see what the more successful competition is doing and implement better designs. Smelling your own farts only works so long, in this case, until wod.
There is nothing to “fanboy” over, because the only failure in design is with players being unwilling to do trivial mechanics. This is a player issue, nothing else.
Flagged the post for the obvious CoC breakage.
Also, group loot promotes ninjas. Seen at least 3 cases people roll on lesser gear. The “fix” does not work.
final fantasy 14 is one of the best mmos out there.
Please don’t fanboy over a glorified dress up game with a shallow narrative.
“iM nOt ToXiC!”
Why do people misuse the concept of “ninja looting” so often? You can not ninja loot anything in group loot because you have to roll upon items and then you can only roll “need” upon things for your class and spec.
