queued as a healer, waited 20+ minutes, joined and got put into a group on the last boss. Incredibly frustrating as i was hoping to get a shield/weapon from the first boss.
Would be nice to have some sort of priority system when you queue again if this happens to you. Some way to get you to the front of the line so you don’t have to wait through a full queue again. If not that, at least an option that says something along the lines of, “accept invite, X bosses killed, or wait for full group and remain in queue”
It’s frustrating waiting all that time, only to get put in a half finished raid, and knowing that you’ll have to sit through the queue again. Especially as a dps where the wait times can exceed an hour.
They made it an option in FF14, if you leave it unchecked you won’t be put into any in progress duties. I’m not sure if that would become a problem in WoW if they did it that way, I could see most people leaving it unchecked. They could always implement a minor reward for turning it on, like you get a certain amount of extra gold or exp or something from those dungeons/raids.
There sort of is. If you get a partially finished run and que again afterward you’ll get priority for a guaranteed fresh run next.
But LFR used to tell you what boss they were on and that was removed in MoP. Because no one would join them and it was difficult to fill those groups. So they had to make it a mystery to keep it fair.
Regardless if its guaranteed fresh, its the fact that i have to wait through a full queue a second time. Currently sitting at 15+ mins in my second queue.
Shouldn’t have to sit through 2 full queues because I was unlucky and put into a nearly completed run. Its just annoying when hunting for specific items.
They should have some form of line priority if you queue within a certain amount of time after completing your first run.
The alternative is being stuck and unable to progress. Would you like if you needed something on the 3rd boss and say a tank and a couple of healers left after the second boss and no one in queue wanted only the 3rd boss. You’d have to requeue anyway and do the bosses you already did, and pray it didn’t happen again.
No, that’s not the alternative. Groups wouldn’t suddenly stall out and be unable to progress, it would just go down the line until it got someone to accept. If needed, offer incentive for accepting half completed runs.
But my bigger argument is the requeue priority, which wouldn’t do that at all.
I’ve suggested in the past that LFR should be a round Robin type raid. Once the “last” boss dies, the raid is simply teleported to a new instance to start from the first boss of the wing, with priority given for replacements.
I agree with OP, people shouldn’t have to sit through 2 20-40 minute queues because they got an in progress run on their first attempt
I mean, you can think any way you want, however, I was around when you could avoid partial completion groups and the problem did happen. You not wanting to believe it does not change that.
You do have a priority, that is what we are trying to tell you.
If you get put in a run that has already killed at least one boss, and you stay to the end (kill the last boss), your next queue (within a short amount of time) gets a priority to get into a fresh run.
This does not give you a queue priority, just a fresh run priority.
You either wait 15 min for another queue or you have to wait 15+ min to re-fill your group during your run because most people want a fresh clear. Can’t have it both ways
Im not arguing a for a priority full raid - i’m arguing for a full raid with a shorter queue. Its the time of waiting that needs to be improved. You shouldn’t have to sit through 2 full queues - which I’m currently sitting at 31 minutes into my second queue.
Also, i’ve played every xpac, ive done lfr in every xpac, i’ve never once been stuck on a boss because ppl left and we couldn’t get a replacement. That’s literally never happened to me in LFR. Maybe it takes a bit longer to get a replacement, but you will get a replacement significantly faster than leaving and queuing for another.
EDIT - Queue popped, 34 minutes on queue 2 as a healer.
Yeah it could go back to MoP where I used to queue as tank for the bonus bag then decline every queue pop til I got one that was on the last boss of the wing. That system is actually great for someone like me who doesn’t do LFR.
I would just queue the last wing of BoD over and over until I got a group on Jaina so I could get a chance at the mount.
Pretty much yeah. I had the reverse too, I would sometimes get into an in-progress group and they would be like THANK GOD, finally a healer that didn’t decline! I kept it to myself I was only there because I was being paid to do so.
Stop focusing on my request that we could have the option to decline half runs. You’re hyper focusing on that.
I specifically said we should have that option, or if not, that we should get put to the front of the line.
and regardless, q pops are fast when ppl don’t join. it still happens. Its much faster than having to wait a full second queue as a dps.
Edit- its really not fun waiting an hour for a queue as dps, only to get put into a priority fresh run, and wait another hour. thats a terrible experience, and i’m surprised there’s this much defense for it as if it’s the best solution to the problem.
