LFR Deserter Debuff

why is this a thing??? I queue for the two Undermine LFR wings that are available: Maniacal Machinist & Shock and Awesome. both times I get put in the final boss. ok cool, so I do those two bosses and then queue again for the first boss. get into Maniacal Machinist, do the first boss and then leave because I am loot locked to the second boss. BOOM! DESERTER DEBUFF! 30 MINUTE LOCKOUT!!

This needs to change, and it needs to change now. I should not have to sit through a boss that I have already done for the week to avoid getting locked out like this. You used to be able to leave after a boss had been killed with no penalty; bring that back! and if people are abusing it, then run a check to see if they’ve killed the next boss before giving them the debuff!!! If they have, no debuff. If they haven’t, debuff away

Try to wait a moment after the boss dies for other players to leave. Unless they’ve changed it, you won’t get deserter if other players leave first.

It’s to try to curb the very thing you requeued for: People ditching after a specific boss.

I don’t like it, but the only way backfills stop is if people stop leaving, and people are less inclined to leave if they are going to receive a penalty for doing so. It’s a vicious cycle and there’s no 100% perfect solution.

At this moment, this is the best we got.

Play a couple alts. Then the 30 minutes will be up by the time you come around to your main again.

It would be great if there was some way to queue up only for fresh runs.

The problem is groups in progress would never fill because everyone wants a fresh run.

It used to be that if you got a group in progress and then requed they moved you to the front of the line for your next run and guaranteed it would start from the first boss.

They just need to get rid of the deserter buff and go back to the old system. Nobody is going to hang around to kill a boss with no loot.

It turns out that it doesn’t stop this behavior, however. The new situation is the back-fillers are punished even harder. It’s not fun to be a back-filler, but it is necessary. We have to live with the reality that nobody sticks around to kill bosses they already killed and will get zero reward for.

It would be better to go back to what we had, where once you DO backfill, you are free to jump into another queue near the head of the line for a fresh run, and then you can leave without consequence after killing the boss(es) you need. That was truly the best of all worlds. The new system has just as many back-fillers, but now those people are punished further.

Reminding everyone that the ONLY reason deserter works this way is because of ONE TRINKET off of ONE BOSS in ONE DUNGEON during ONE WEEK of PRESEASON TWW.

This is Blizzard’s fault for putting that toy on the 1st boss not the last
