LFR backfilling

If you are going to make us wait for over half an hour in queue then atleast make it so the first run you do is a FRESH run.

I’ve queued 3 times in the last 2 days, each time is a partial run.
The main reason I’m even in there is for the first boss.

I stay when I get full runs, but if you try and put me in a partial run, i’m out EVERY time, I don’t care if I eat deserted 20 times, if I can’t get a full run on my first queue for the week I’m outie 5000 bro.

TLDR: I’m not running multiple runs of the same raid just to get a full run. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Then once you decide to get to the second boss and half the group drops you’ll never fill, never allowing you to see the raid. I remember during crucible never being able to see the first boss because of what you’re describing but it’s kind of a double edged sword.

Ya I agree it’s not a good situation either way. You join a partial and get screwed out of part of the run and people who had others leave mid run, making them wait to continue.

But damned if i’m gonna keep running over and over just to get a full run.

Why would you take deserter 20 times? Do the partial raid, then the next run is guaranteed fresh run. If you have time to gamble for full clears, you have time to do 2 queues.

Why should a second run be the guaranteed run?
why not the first?

Why should I, on my first attempt to run for the week, have to do a partial AND then requeue again?

Why should I be punished? I’m not the one who bailed on the raid.

because then runs would never get filled up if people left. The system would be completely broken if it only ever gave people full clears.

But it also continues the cycle.
So if I get a partial run, do the run, requeue and get a fresh run, you think i’m gonna stay for the full second run?

Of course not, why would anyone.

It should be, on your first run, a full run.
But if you leave for whatever reason, and then requeue, then you get put in the filler spots of current runs.

Ah well, queue number 4.
Actually kinda like a game now to see how many times ill have to queue for a full run, I got all week to play this queue game.

Because the system doesn’t prioritize you, it prioritizes making every LFR instance completed. To complete every instance the system needs people to fill in progress runs to replace people who are kicked or leave. If everyone queues only for a fresh run then many of those instances never complete.

All that said, I have long been in favor of a system where people can queue for a fresh run if they want, but those LFR instances will not be eligible for replacement players. Why should you get help finishing your queues if you’re unwilling to help others finish theirs? Good luck killing the last boss of a wing with 10 dps and a healer. That’s the world you wanted.

Better people will just plan on queuing twice per week and having no issue at all.

Sounds like a dumb game, but if you’d rather do that than actually complete the LFR wings you’re trying to do then grats I guess.

it’s been suggested over the years, that they should just round robin the LFR raids.

you queue in and do X bosses, regardless of where you start. If one of those bosses happens to be the “end” boss of the wing, the game just ports the raid to the beginning of the wing when the boss dies so they can do the first one.

It wouldn’t matter when someone leaves or at which boss someone queues in then.

LFR used to allow queing for a fresh run long ago.

The result ? tons of dead LFR groups midway who lost people and had no hope of filling back up

That is why the system was changed to what it is now

Technically it wasn’t a different queue, they just showed how many bosses were dead before you clicked ‘accept’, but the result was the same.

People would decline 100 times until they fished a clean run, and groups would be stranded at deathwing for 2 hours, maybe even more if people tried to wait it out, but usually with everyone quitting and trying the whole wing again hoping the same thing wouldn’t happen. But it did. Almost every time.

It’s incomprehensible to me that this is the world some people want so they “don’t have to queue twice”…

At least now the queue fishers get stuck with a 30 minute timeout for being bad community members.

Ya, i’m a horrible soul because I don’t want to have to keep re running the same run to get a full clear.

And a 30 min timeout is nothing, better that then rekilling trash and bosses I’ve already done, to get a full clear down.

Atleast with a 30 min timeout I can leave WoW on and watch YouTube or something.
Or can knock out these horrid dailies while I wait.

It was already explained to you that you don’t have to “keep re running the same run”. You queue once and finish the wing, then a second time to get the bosses you missed. Two times. Not over and over and over again.

And it’s already been explained that those 2 queues per wing are a minor individual inconvenience for the benefit of the community of people using LFR as a whole.

So yes, you’re a bad community member because you want what is convenient for you personally at the expense of everyone who uses the system, yourself included by the way.

If you want to use the LFR system, you are relying on that system to put new people into your incomplete runs to help you finish your wings. It is extremely self centered to believe that you should benefit from people helping you while being unwilling to help the rest of the community.

I mean, by your bleeding heart logic, it should have went like this.

First queue- wait half an hour, get in, oh look first boss dead. run it anyway.

Second queue- wait half an hour, get in, oh look first boss is dead AGAIN. oh well run it again for no loot.

Third queue- wait half an hour, get in, oh look they are on the last boss, who ive now killed twice this week. oh well kill him again for no chance at anything.

Forth queue- 40 min queue, get in, YAY fresh run too bad I only now need the first boss and will bail after that since Ive killed everything else multiple times already this week…

Or my way.

Queue, wait the 30 min, get in see a partial run, leave, go watch Netflix or something, try again later.

It’s not self centered to not want to waste my time for the benefit of random people I don’t know.

Would they run over and over for no other reason but to help all the other totally random people they will never see again?

No, and I wouldn’t expect them to.

Aaaaaand you still don’t understand…

Pay attention this time.

First queue - wait half an hour, get in, oh look, first boss dead. run it anyway.

Second queue - wait half an hour, system puts you in a fresh run because you already completed the wing, kill first boss, leave and repeat for each available wing.

It is when you are benefiting from them wasting their time on your behalf.

And this is why I want people like you to get your wish. You do expect people to help, you just take it for granted every time you get replacements to finish a wing.

There should be a “fresh only” queue for LFR for all of you special people who are too important to be contributing members of the community. The only catch is these raids get no replacements when people drop or are are kicked. Have fun on the last boss if you’re too short people or critical roles to actually finish. That’s the world you wanted; live in it!

If I do a full run, and they do the same full run, how am I benefiting and they aren’t?
They aren’t wasting their time for my behalf, we all contribute equally.
Makes no sense but whatever.

Fun fact, LFR isn’t hard, you don’t need a full group to run it, on my warrior we did a full run, and people who bailed at last boss (probably because they got stuck in a partial run previously) didn’t make a bit of difference.

Since our raid killed the first two bosses out of order it bugged the raid and we couldn’t replace anyone.

It wouldn’t let us requeue so we did it with 4 dps and a healer gone.
Still crushed it.

But hey, you enjoy that high horse.

Is this a new change? Because the example I stated earlier in crucible where I joined a group and did the second boss, queued again and it put me up on the second boss again so I dropped and never touched it again. It makes me wish that you could just queue for specific bosses, and yes I’d sit through a longer queue for it.

I usually at least try lfr during the beginning of a tier just to get more reps in on the mechanics before raid night but with the system the way it is it’s barely worth doing at all.

Even more so if the person who left or got kicked is a tank. LFR does scale to your raid size now (as since WoD prepatch for SoO LFR onwards) however most bosses still require 2 tanks regardless of how geared 1 tank is. Good luck solo tanking Orgozoa or Queens Court. Or Hivemind when that comes out on LFR.

But yeah, the queue does prioritize partial runs > fresh runs.

Blizzard should put up a barrier in front of Prophet to prevent that from happening. Making it so that you have to kill Maut beforehand.

I believe they did that with Radiance back in EP, as you could do either Blackwater or Radiance first after Sivara on normal and higher.

Try doing a boss like Hivemind or Ra-den with only 1 tank on LFR when it comes out =)

dps and healers are not really that important compared to tanks. As there are some bosses in LFR that force you to have 2 tanks regardless. Besides, the 4 dps that left basically equaled that healer that left.
