I’m leveling an alt Druid, he’s at 70 and I have been sitting in LFG for over an hour now and i’ve seen maybe 2 - 3 actual groups form and none of them are taking new invites.
I tried to form a group myself but there’s rarely any tanks in the queue either and i’m on Grobb which is supposed to be a mega server.
Dragonflight is too close for me to bother with alts, I wouldnt have the time to do the alts justice, I have enough time to raid in both expansions but thats probably going to be my limits.
They tell you to either move to a mega server or wait until a certain period of day…why not just like, not have to do either of those and play the game and do it’s content at any time of the day? That’s what RDF would enable.
RDF only automatically matches groups together. What you’re thinking of here is cross-realm, which Blizzard could do separately if they wanted to and is a whole other debate. It’s also worth noting that cross-realm is typically region only, which means all of the americas and oceanic realms. So it’s worth keeping in mind that a dead time on your realm could very well be dead across the board. It is better odds though since if you play on west coast and it’s 2pm, on east coast it’s 5pm and so more people are likely to be online.
Cross-realm comes with its own tradeoffs and, like RDF, is a whole other debate… but Cross-Realm is what you’re looking for here
I’m game for cross realm too. Doing dungeons would still be slower, and more annoying due to travel time and stuff, using the retail tool they added in it’s place, but at least with cross realm there would be a larger pool of players at any given level bracket, so it would at the very least solve the problem with non-mega realms content wise, and would probably reduce queue times greatly.
That’s cool, they’re just different things that solve different problems. RDF solves the problem of players having to build their own groups and worry about finding various roles that aren’t as in demand. Cross realm solves the problem of vastly increasing the pool of players available. Both should be evaluated on their own individual merits and impacts to the game.
I wrote up a post about cross-realm a few days ago that goes a bit more into cross-realm, why it’s traditionally frowned upon, and why that outlook might not align with the current WoW Classic climate. I’m not advocating for, or against, cross-realm, but mostly wanted to raise some questions and encourage others to talk about it.
RDF helps with max level as well. Fresh 80s may still need to do normals before heading into heroics. Heroics will be similarly irrelevant after a while.
Having these on queues lets players still have a fighting chance at doing this content.
