Why is that people use LFG to spam their guild recruitment. Pretty sure this is against TOS. Blizz really needs to start enforcing this because the amount of legit posts is bad enough to keep track of let alone getting spammed with guild recruitment add.
Well they would use the Guild Finder tool, but it’s bugged. So how else would they do it?
Which reminds me, I need to put that up in bug report.
The same way it was done for years using trade chat!!!
Our LFG on has been nothing but people insulting each other over politics for a while now. It’s worse than old school Barrens chat. I’m so glad they updated the LFG Bulletin Board addon finally.
But you can spam trade chat more than LFG, LFG has a cooldown.
Also LFG seems more appropriate for guild msgs than trade chat.
No LFG is meant for forming groups not guild recruitment.
Trade and general where always used for guild recruitment. There is even server discords now that have guild recruitment channels.
So… the channel designed for selling things, is more appropriate than the channel to find people??? You didn’t think that one through, did you?
And your other suggestion is General?
You do realise if I hit my guild recruit msg macro while I’m in say… BoT and I’ve got it set to General. Only people that are zoned into BoT can see it, right?
You know what else is meant for forming groups? Premade Finder. But unlike the Guild Finder, your system isn’t bugged.
Guild recruitment has been posted in trade and general for 20 years. Vanilla, tbc, wotlk Didnt have guild recruitment system so people used Trade and general.
And now they use LFG, find me the rule that says I can’t recruit for my guild from LFG and I’ll stop. Until then… get used to it.
lfg = looking for group (raid, guild, gdkp, pvp, anything that requires a group)
I’m more surprised the person who openly admitted to abusing a bug is worried about rules.
AFAIK, the content in /lfg
is the way it is because most people are not reporting it. From what I understand, the purpose of the channel is to form groups right then and there, and any communication in that channel apart from that is something for which a chat suspension would likely be maintained upon human review.
For example, if people are talking about their favorite fast food restaurants, politics, or even looking for 1m for a raid happening any time other than right now, these are all not the intended use for this channel.
While I’m not sure what the threshold is, if enough unique players report someone for inappropriate chat in a channel, they will automatically be chat suspended, subject to human review. If this is not happening, it likely means that not enough people on your server care about the content in that channel to report it (or they just don’t know that that’s what to do).
My thoughts are that most people really don’t care.
i see no reason why people spamming their guild recruitment lines in the Looking For Guild channel would be against the rules
Because its not Looking For Guild its LOOKING FOR GROUP!!! There is a difference. LFG is for groups that are forming to run content. Not for guilds recruiting.
what are guilds if not large groups formed to run content?
There is a difference between recruiting and looking for someone to fill in as a pug for your guild group run. That is the difference that is the purpose of LFG is to fill a group that is running. Not to recruit for a group that will be running later.
Ok, then start reporting people, the system is there for you to use.
oh Trust me i have its great, But we need more people to report to fix the problem
Feel free to report everything said on LFG, including any talking.
That should keep you busy.
I’d actually like to see this.
Call me crazy, but I’m pretty sure there’s an addon that you can download to filter out messages via certain keywords.
That IS against the rules.
MANY guilds - past and present - have been recruiting for runs happening at a later time. Didn’t finish a run tonight? Start recruiting for a Saturday night raid to ensure you have the people ready by then.
Clearly not, considering you’re here complaining… again.
