LFG automatic sign up

I would like to see blizzard add an option to the m+ section of Looking for group that would let you do the following:

  1. Sign up for an upgrade key

This would automatically sign you up for keys that had an available spot for your specified role and that is one key level higher than the key you’ve timed. This would also be dungeon specific.

E.g.

If I have timed a +5 Windrunner spire and a +7 Nexus point then this feature would automatically sign me up for any available windrunner +6 and Nexus point +8s that have a dps spot available in the group.

  1. Sign up for a farm key

This would automatically sign you up for keys that had an available spot for your specified role and that is equal to the key you’ve timed. This would also be dungeon specific.

(This feature could be extended to be able to sign up to keys lower than the max level you’ve timed.)

E.g.

Like above but you would be signed up for +5 Windrunner spire and +7 Nexus point

These features would also supress any decline notifications, wouldn’t resign up to any key you get declined to, and would sign you up to +2 keys of you’ve never timed a key for that specific dungeon.

This system would work a long side the current system for forming groups for m+ and wouldn’t compete with it like a queue system would but has a lot of the desired qualities from but the current system and a queued system.

For the players forming groups, they still have complete control over their group composition.

For the players looking to sign up for groups, it is completely automated so you can do other activities while your group forms.

Maybe, I’d just be worried about spam.

I think it would make filters more commonplace, so auto signups would be spamming the few keys that are left.

I’m skeptical it would be effective. But maybe it’s worth trying!

When you make a group you can set minimum requirements for ilvl and score. If players don’t meet these minimums they won’t be able to see your listing and the automatic sign feature I’m suggesting wouldn’t be able to sign up to something you don’t qualify for.

More people using the filters isn’t a bad thing. And automatic sign up doesn’t really spam. It would sign you up once and not again if you’re declined and wouldn’t sign up if there is no room for your role.

This would involve group makers to utilize filters a lot more than I think they currently do to manage the increase in volume. So while I generally like this idea, there would be a large reliance on a good filter system for both group leaders and people signing up.

Off the top of my head we would need the following.

Group Leaders

  • Ilvl
  • Rating
  • Highest key completed for that dungeon
  • Expectations (Time, complete, etc)

Sign ups

  • Dungeons
  • Key level ranges
  • Ilvl
  • Rating
  • Role Availability (may just be a binary check box to sign up or not if a group is filled with your role)
  • Expectations
  • Presence of key leavers

It would be interesting to see and makes the process a bit less tedious.

Players that want to check that level of information could just choose to not use the automated sign-up and manually sign-up for the keys that meet their criteria. Not that I’m against adding or modifying my suggestion but my intent was for it to be as simple and straightforward as possible – basically simulating queueing for m+.

Personally, if I was to use the auto sign-in feature I’d love to see more filtering options. Maybe what you suggested could be in an advanced filter tab or something.

Sure, they certainly could do it manually. I dont have anything against it, but if an automated system were to be developed I think it would be good to put those controls in from the start.

My concern is more about limiting the increased number of sign-ups for group leaders. Without filters there will be even more people signing up which would make the selection process harder. Might as well give group leaders more filters to make it easier to remove the non-starter applicants immediately.

No - totally fine like it is.

Yeah, they’re already built in tools. But having more selection isn’t bad at all.

Ok, so then an automated sign-up feature would work perfectly for you because you can keep things the same for yourself

So if I’m reading this correctly… you’re saying that I could hit a queue button and automatically be listed for group leaders to decide whether to invite me or not, based on my key level completed and their filter options?

How do we keep them from ending up in paid carry groups?

There is already an addon I use believe it’s called looking for group filter. The nice thing about it is at any time as applicants are signing up I can sort by role, ilvl, IO, linked mains IO, notes and a few others but I’ve never had to use it even when the applicant span multiple pages of scrolling on the blizzard UI.

One big issue is people would just drop, take a debuff and ruin your key vs giving more effort and staying longer with manual made groups.

I’d like a more intuitive way to create filters for specific dungeons and key levels. Say, I want to show a listing of Maisara, Pit, and Skyreach in only the +15 range.

Can already do this by selecting the dungeon ls then in the search filter type 15-15 this way only 15s show up. If you just type 15 then it will show +~ 1 (14 and 16).

Or let’s say you want. Range just type 10-12.

If this isn’t part of the blizzard default then it’s because I use LFG filter addon

Yeah, that’s what I do now for an individual dungeon. Would love to be able to do the same for multiple dungeons though.

Does the addon you use allow for multiples?

That’s fantastic. I clearly overlooked it.

Ill have to take a look at that. I would also love the ability to sign up for more than 5 groups at a time.

Yes, there is a checkbox for each dungeon. There is an invert selection too. Let’s say I timed AA and Mc at 14 and I 13 the others, instead of selecting all the others I can select AA and MC then click invert and it will select everything else except AA and MC.

If y’all keep making threads about this Blizz might actually take you serious. Our elite players are going to have to take their own advice and make friends to avoid RNG chaos!

You won’t be able to do that, however, there is an option where if you sign up for 6th or 7th etc,. It will automatically cancel the sign up of your oldest sign up and allow you to seamlessly continue signing up.
