This needs to be addressed. I queued for Discarded Workes twice and both times had down bosses. I immediately leave group and get this 30 min deserter de-buff. WHY!
If I was in the raid for 5+ minutes or killed A BOSS, the de-buff could be valid; but to enter, find bosses killed, then immediately leave. It makes ZERO sense. Now I have to wait another 30 minutes probably just to have the same thing happen again. A complete waste of time!
For those why want to chime in and state, “You could just run with the group and then re-queue again.”, to that I answer: “Why waste time with that if it is not guaranteed I will be able to kill the bosses that I have not killed in the first place?” There is none. With logic, I would have to keep wasting my time to get in a FRESH group.

They used to show how many bosses were up or downed upon the queue popping but they ran into too many people not accepting that instance for obvious reasons.
I think for some middle ground, bring that back but add incentives to queue to finish the job. Like extra shards etc. that way if you’re stuck in a LFR that is partially complete your time isn’t as wasted as it would be otherwise

I think they should just replace leavers with comp stomp bots. I want to do the full wing when I queue, every time. If people just want a specific boss, that’s fine, make it so they can opt in to partial groups and replace a comp stomp bot.
Because you need to stay and kill a boss to avoid being debuffed. In the future I’d recommend clearing the remaining bosses then queuing again where you’ll hopefully get a fresh group and can kill the early bosses.
Wasn’t it set up so that if you finish a partial Lfr wing that you are more likely to get a fresh one?

It still works that way. Finish the remaining bosses, next queue get in a fresh run and do the ones you missed.
If you keep just leaving, you are likely to keep getting into an in-progress run

At the risk of being a first world jerk… I definitely would never do an in progress for bosses I have already done.
I get why they don’t list the numbers anymore… But I just won’t do it
Pretty sure it works like this.
Not sure if/when a change happened but I can’t be so lucky to always get put in a fresh raid if I zoned into the last boss previously that week.

Must not have did LFR in MoP. When people left, it took AGES to get replacements. Nobody wanted in progress runs. Was awful if you lost a tank or too many healers.
What they should do is offer a satchel to join an in progress run, and let people who want to wait longer for a fresh queue select “fresh only”
I said I get why they don’t list them
It works in a fashion. Now if I ever did it I would either anchor the group and do nothing… Or shoot myself in the foot and log off.
But it seems that most people don’t act like me so it was a good thing overall
Low key they could just remove the limit on looting LFR bosses, so people would be fine with running it multiple times. I think the small fraction of the playerbase that would be willing to run lfr 10 hours a day to get fully geared with LFR loot wouldnt be enough to justify not making that change.
The de-buff is there obviously to deter players from leaving when they don’t get their item drop. From experience, it doesn’t work. Perhaps they could change it for a longer version of the old time Res sickness. That might work as a better deterrent.
And they should reinstate that.
If I do LFR, I do it for the entire thing, I’m not there to cherrypick, but I understand that others may need a specific item and it may be the only one that is any good for them. I see nothing wrong with offering players the option to refuse a group because of that. After all, it won’t apply to everyone as many are after subsequent bosses, and as often as not people who need the first one will leave anyhow and put up with the wait while they play on alts.
It’s an easy solution really.
