I like how a bunch of DPS think they are reserving ANYTHING LOL.
“Toxic” is code word for “hurt feelings police! Help me!” If they form a group with these rules, then all is well. Crying about someone elses’ standards is infantile.
Join a different group. Or, try this…make your own.
I almost did a loot reservation for SM, but opted not.
Only thing I plan to monitor is BRD trinket. I intend to form my own groups for it and will not let hunters roll for it since horde has rune guard available to them that is indisputably better. Other melee will be fair game.
Reserving is cancerous garbage. But I just sit there and enjoy watching them spam for the next 3 hours instead of filling the group and running the dungeon ~15+ times instead. Let them waste their time.
Wait, UBRS is a 10 man isn’t it?
If everyone grew a spine and didn’t join, then these things wouldn’t exist.
Ok look… tank here and here’s my take. Firstly, I’ve never advertised a reserve run. I have put together caster compositions subtly though. My scenario:
I enjoy getting BiS loot as I level up. Now sure I don’t spend g on the AH for crazy twink world drops but I farm all dungeons until I get the best gear from them and then move on. This was done until ZF. I quite literally spent levels 45ish to like 53 in that place off and on. I ran ZF over 20 times looking for the Lycan helm off the last (non optional) boss. It was just personal at this point lol. So occasionally I’d try and take people who’d offer less competition if I had multiple choices to pick from (which I usually did). Once I was like level 54-55 I would be questing and get messages from people “hey, wanna tank ZF?” I would reply that I would if I could possibly reserve the helm. Why? Because I don’t need to run that place anymore. Because I don’t get xp from it. Because I’m doing something more productive at the moment and would be stopping to do this run for a very high chance I’ll literally get nothing from it. If they accepted, sure. If not, ima keep leveling. I have yet to this day seen that helm drop. Of course. I have better now but…still bugs me lol.
Now to you guys saying “just form a group of friends instead of reserving…” what’s the difference? Your friends are people who agree to let you have it. Or they’re not able to use the item. If you form a certain composition… same thing applies. If you ask for a reserve group… you’re getting people who agree to let you have it. There’s literally
No difference. If you want the item too and aren’t ok with it, don’t join. No one said the tanks are being mean, they’re just asking. “Hey, running XXX for this item if anyone wants to come.” That’s basically all they’re posting. It’s far more mean to put them on ignore. They’re not doing anything to you at all.
A lot of these BiS items have very low drop chance. If you don’t want to run hundreds of times for your gear then build a group that will ensure only you will need the item.
As annoying as you may find the ‘xx on reserve’ it’s actually a good thing. If I’m joining BRD and the only thing I want is Hand of Justice, then I’d prefer to not group with 3 other people that also want Hand of Justice. So seeing someone say LF1M BRD HoJ reserved saves me time by ensuring I won’t have to roll against whoever in that group needs it. I’ll just join a different group.
Plus if you don’t like people reserving drops, just make your own group.
Imagine the power OP will wield when he realizes he can decide not to join those groups.
I got into a “need 1 heal UBRS” and they stopped at Rend.
This gear farming for only the warriors is shady practice.
I roll on anything that’s an honest upgrade for me. Unless I’m with my guild, I don’t even bother with “reserved loot.” There is no reserved loot in randoms.
As of last night I have 52 kills on Rend.
The only piece of gear I need out of that entire god forsaken place is the MH.
I took the time to do the following:
-
Farmed LBRS 10+ times until I got all 3 gems needed for an UBRS key
-
Fish for an instance ID with Jed (rare spawn) so casters have an incentive to even come in the first place, each and every run
-
Compose the group so we have healers, and an even distribution of melee and casters
-
Tank, despite hating tanking for pugs
Now call me entitled all you like, but if someone takes the time and effort to make the run happen for everyone like that, you bet your butt I feel entitled to the only piece of loot I’m even there for in the first place. Especially after that many kills.
If I take all that time, including leveling a Warlock alt to 45 for the sole purpose of parking outside UBRS to fish for additional Jed IDs and summon people, and see some random fresh 60 in greens roll up and say “HI, NEED SUMMON PLS” and then win the MH when it finally drops? Yea, I’d be displeased. So I nip that in the bud, put in the time and effort to set everything up, and in exchange, I reserve that one piece.
Don’t like it? Don’t come–plenty others have, and will continue doing so. Most stay after the first run too, because they know all they have to do is wait, and I’ll handle the rest.
You have just as much freedom to not join their groups as they do to reserve the item they’re hoping to see drop.
Yeah it’s dumb but just make your own group? Personally if I had done ubrs 10 times and lost the MH to somebody over and over I’d do the same thing.
It’s not even just about seeing it drop over and over and losing it, it’s the fact that it has between a 3-4% drop rate in the first place.
I’ve killed Rend 52 times now and not seen it once. So yes, I’ll be reserving it. I’ll make the group, and facilitate everything else, but I will not be seeing it drop, and go to some random person who just hopped into a group, got summoned to the dungeon, and run through, no.
It started about 15 years ago with the release of vanilla WoW.
easy fix, do the run and roll need on the trinket.
So you’re suggesting he ninja? That’s what ML is for. Good luck ninjaing.
oh god no, not a ninja, just a , oh im so sorry, i didnt mean to roll need on that trinket i actually needed… so yah its not a ninja if its an accident.
Even if you actually needed the trinket, if you agreed before hand to go with a group with which the trinket is reserved, you’re agreeing to pass on that trinket.
Reneging on that agreement after the fact makes you a ninja, regardless of whether your spec benefits from it or not.
You have every opportunity to NOT go with the reserved group, or form your own. Out of laziness you choose to hop in on that run instead, and then go back on your word?
People like you are why I’m so glad Master Looter is back for Classic.
