Is there a mage class lead developer?
Is he or she “Working from home”?
Is he or she playing a mage?
Has he or she EVER played a mage?
Why did we get no real changes from last expansion?
Is it incompetence?
Is it Lazyness?
Similar to our defensives, we get reactive changes after the damage has already been done. Why does it need to get to this point for changes to be made? We have been screaming about these issues before the numerous tuning passes. It feels like there is no one at the mage helm.
WE NEED A CLASS OVERHAUL NOW.

My personal theory is the entire beta balance fiasco caused them to move the one dev that was actually working on mages to druid because of how much druid and priests were complaining and now there’s literally no one working on mages.
Would explain why mages received effectively no changes since halfway through the beta.

Unfortunately, Blizzard and everyone who doesn’t play a mage’s opinion is that “Mages have been top dogs too many times, it’s time for someone else to ‘shine’, and they aren’t broken so they don’t need fixing.” So until mages are “broken” (whatever that means) they won’t be getting looked at.
Until then we get to keep playing the same thing year after year.
At the very least we got the old blast wave knockback back!
all VERY fair questions.
Ive been saying the same for a while now, im convinced the dev lead never played a mage before i even doubt this person plays WoW AT ALL!
The mage state is an UTTER joke, so many bad designs unbelievable, indie level work over here.
Can Elon Musk take over Blizzard and CLEAN HOUSE PLEASE TY!

Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s anyone. To keep the mage experience, you should probably reroll to a warrior. At this point, they’re more magical than we would ever be.

That would just make things worse.

One would think that a company like blizzard would at the very least on the design team have 1 designer per class if not Spec.
Put it into perspective… pay them each 150 k a year and that is a measly 2 million a year. If they had 1 per spec that would be just under 6 million. Sounds like a lot, but With 3.5 million users paying around 12 dollars a month they see 504 million dollars in revenue, not counting in game purchases.
Their job duties should be… Play the game 2 hours per day on the class they represent. Work together to achieve overall balance and a fun play experience. Participate actively on the forums for their class.
THe funny part is that they clearly don’t think this would improve the game and thus increase revenue… I suspect it would… a lot.

Yesterday!
Honestly, though I am so frustrated I can’t even express it into words anymore. So disappointed!

Practically impossible at this point unless he literally sets the place on fire, lol!

He sucks and needs to be fired. He has no idea how to balance for PvP frost. Frost mages are shafted hard this expansion. They were so much better last expansion. They are only doing this because wow devs play Spriest only and evoker is mage replacement.

I personally think they take suggestions from higher end players. My thinking is someone(s) really liked the skb style from SL and they “improved” on it and now this is where we are at. Ironically that player or those players are playing arcane rn. The guy that makes the wowhead guide isn’t even playing fire now lol. He plays dracthyr.
I would have preferred something closer to the bfa iteration since we got blaster master back but skb/clasm is growing on me. It’s a bit clunky and stationary and doesn’t seem to mesh well in scenarios where everything seems to be tossing stuff at our toes but it’s not something other classes don’t have to deal with.

Benched in mythic raid bc dps was just too low. meanwhile i was parsing 95+ in shadowlands as frost. Thanks blizzard, still parsing high just cant compete with rogues and hunters at this point. GG mage dev. glad they have so many different class devs that one just lets their class hold top 3 raid dps slots and other class lets fire and frost sit at the bottom.

They really don’t. They just copy and pasted the builds top players used in SL because that’s the easiest and least time and resource consuming path for them. The problem is that no matter how bad or clunky a build is top end players will find a way to make it work and adapt. However, that’s not something the rest 99% of us can or are willing to do.
So it seems like you recognize what the problem areas are but have made peace with it because everyone is in the same boat. Personally, I look at it from a different perspective. The entire game is a mess right now and needs a massive overhaul. They rushed the release and now we’re paying the price for it, we shouldn’t make peace with that but demand better.

Ya I still think it is a clunky spec right now. We are still front loaded with nothing out side of our cooldowns. But instead of just having combustion we now basically have 3 very unforgiving cooldowns in which 2 require a 4 second cast. The difficulty level is certainly not what we are used to. It definitely stings watching stacks of skb or clasm tick away between trash in m+ or between phases in raid (ie waiting for raz to knock us off the platform for p2 with comb still on cd). We literally cannot afford let anything expire or sit off cd. It just feels wonky. I don’t get how it got here from what was previously a very smooth and straightforward play style. Now it’s a bunch of stop and starts.

It’s truly astounding how they managed to screw up so many specs so badly. All they had to do was revert to Legion baseline with the QoL fixes we’ve gotten since then. Instead we now have to use flow charts and schematics that look like they belong on the desk of a rocket engineer just to get our rotations down.
