How do you tell what server a forum member is on? Sorry I’m just trying to figure out these forums still. Whenever I click on someone’s name or picture or achievements I just get their forum history. I used to be able to see their armory and everything imaginable about them.
For what it’s worth, I have a level 25 Darkmoon Zeppelin which I’d be delighted to trade for a level 1 Azure Whelpling, although that trade was probably already done weeks ago.
Just click on their Icon, will take you into WoW armory and give you all sorts of facts about them.
OK, get this. When I click on the icon for the OP, or the icons of the other two people who posted in this thread, or my own icon for that matter, I get an option for “View Activity” and that shows their forum history.
When I click the icon for Lycastra, who very helpfully replied to me, I get the option for “View Activity” but also one for “View Profile.” The option called “View Profile” goes to the armory and that’s what I was looking for.
But “View Profile” hasn’t been available for any character whose icon I’ve clicked on since the start of this forum a couple weeks ago, except Lycastra. So why don’t I have this option that seemingly other people in this forum have, and why did I suddenly get a one-time exception to be able to use it for Lycastra, who (coincidentally?) posted in response to my question about it?
Edit: I took some screenshots and loaded them to tinypic but when I tried to post them I got an error that I can’t put links in my post. If anyone has a suggestion how I can share these screenshots I’d like to share them so I can figure this out.
Edit again: The issue with not being able to see “View Activity” has been reported by others and I will comment and follow up on it in the Website Bug forum.
The issue with not being able to post links is a “feature” and I can’t post links because nobody likes me.

It’s inconsistent for me too. Some toons show “View Profile” while others do not. Only thing I can think of is that some have chosen to hide their public profile.
Not very intuitive, but you can still search for specific characters here: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news
Click on the magnifying glass on the upper right, input character name, and you’ll get a list of results (includes name, server, etc.)
For links, you can use the Preformatted Text option. Highlight the link URL in your post, click on the formatting option (should like like < > with a slash in between), and it’ll post not as a clickable hyperlink, but it’s a workaround to post the URL without posting an actual link.
I suppose it might be nice to be able to hide one’s public profile. I don’t have the option to do that myself, so I don’t know if other people are hiding theirs or not. I seem to be missing a lot on these forums so I just don’t know if that’s what’s going on. Seems more likely to be a bug. Thanks for the other suggestions.
Interesting and good to know. I checked my Preferences>Interface and I do not have the box checked to hide my profile. So it’s apparently not checked by default, that was the first time I ever went into the Preferences. Anyone who can’t view my armory, you’re apparently experiencing the same bug as me.
Sorry about not-too-helpful earlier comment. Had foolishly assumed forums would work same way as before, forgot about Blizzard occasionally “fixing” something that wasn’t broken.
Now instead of being able to find out more about who I’m replying to, seems all I can see by clicking on icon is what else they’ve posted about (which is a bit intrusive IMO). Necessary to leave Forums entirely and then search for them in Armory. Made more challenging if their name is a commonly used one as forum doesn’t tell you what realm they’re on.

Your earlier post was genuinely and sincerely helpful, if not so much for the content but because I can actually click on your avatar and view your profile/armory. Why can I view yours and not anyone else’s? Who knows? But it made it clear to me that being able to view profiles is a feature that works at least some of the time.
If not for being able to see at least one profile I would have figured I was crazy, or that I haven’t gotten enough “likes” to get a high enough “trust level” to see profiles, or maybe that I’m too stupid to be using the Internet or something.
So here’s what I’m seeing when I click on various avatars in this thread:

When I right-click and choose “open in new tab” on the avatar of someone for whom I can only see “View Activity” when left-clicking, but not “View Profile,” the right-click-open-in-new-tab just opens the Activity page in a new tab. No new information, no way to see what realm they’re on or their armory.
The Open in New Tab remark was directed at Lycastra who was having trouble navigating, I thought.
Indeed, if you can not view the profile when Left Clicking, you can not get there by Right Clicking.
