The puzzle is cut into 2/3
EDIT: to add on, it isn’t possible to click where the orbs should be by following the line. It’s like a transparent overlay that is blocking/covering it.
Exactly same experience with the 2/3 screen twice now! … this time I fail to remember what got me out. Reload/restart not working either for me. Can’t whistle out cuz I’m apparently stunned.

I have never gotten that on these but I have gotten that in one location only on the runelocked chests.
Are you serious? I relogged, moved, exited, disabled all addons and it still happened. Do you think that I came here and posted without trying all sorts of things?
And regardless, if the work around is to try it from another angle, it is still a bug.

No it wasn’t. And how can you say that when you say it has never happened to you?
Bugs aren’t always persistent.
This was 9 days ago btw. Fix the problem.
RUNELOCKED was solved that way - I have gotten that in ONE LOCATION only.
I’ve only ever had this happen because i was standing in a weird spot. Stand facing literally any direction other than the pillars and they orbs wont get stuck in them.
I see your replies saying you tried other things but I can only go off of your screenshots. In your screenshots the problem is that the orbs are inside/behind the pillar.
Interacting with the chest does not move your character. The puzzle appears in front of the direction you are facing. The solution, in the case of your screenshot, is to face a different direction or to back up before interacting with the puzzle.

I have actually encountered this in several places, both with this, and with the rune locks. The biggest issue is, there is no way to quit the puzzle that I can see, apart from relogging. So trying a different position is problematic, though not impossible. I have noticed I encounter it more often when there are several people trying to solve it at the same time, or when I have large pets rezzed.
Here, try this: click the puzzle start while facing away from the chest. I just did that with the leyline puzzle and it was nicely in the middle of the room.
To quit either of the puzzles, click off (cancel) the buff in your buff bar that represents the game in progress. For Runelocked Chest, it’s Arcane Runelock. For Leylocked Chest, it’s Arcane Leylock. In both cases, the buff icon looks like the mage spell Arcane Blast.
I had this issue today and I simply moved my character to another position and then started the quest again. This solved the problem.

This will silently fail if you are in a raid group. The puzzle will complete, but you won’t get credit.
