I chose not to do any of the incursions and leveled with the buff xp buff off (Insane right?)
Been level 50 for a while, as a ret paladin I got Sul’Thraze and guess what. Now there’s almost nothing to do lol. I did my share of world pvp so now I can - Raid log, go do horrificly unbalanced battlegrounds. About it. Little desire to brain rot grind for something that will become irrelevant next phase
I’ve been saying for some time, maybe one day retail lite players will understand that peak WoW was Vanilla levels 1-59.
While leveling I:
Obviously was able to do quests. Gave me gold, helped me advance through the levels, and some of them were actually pretty good if you follow them
Explore zones, instead of mindless zerging incursions or spamming I went from Felwood, Arathi Highlands, Southshore, Searing Gorge, and probably one of my favorite zones Tanaris because of the ample world pvp, cool neutral hub, and questlines that lead up to hinting towards C’thun
Obviously finding runes as you went along as well. Paladin runes especially (lore wise at least) since they had storylines with good flavors
And meaningful world pvp. Unironically more balanced than what it is currently since Shamans/Priests weren’t completely broken.
Just found myself doing 40x more content and things that were fun than what you have to do at 50. Especially since retail 0.5 mechanics are already being established I have little desire to farm Wild offerings 50 times in a row or do incursions. I’m just waiting for phase 4, hopefully without a world buff, to do UBRS, BRD, and the Silithus questing and world pvp to follow
Main point ----> Incursions are the retailification of SOD which is meant to be an extent of classic. leveling in classic is huge part of the game. People quit because they zerg to max level, have nothing to do, complain, then leave
