I went through three rare mob baits yesterday on my skinner, skinning my way through the cooldowns, and at the end of that, I’d got either zero or one knowledge boost (I think zero). That was maybe 50-100 skins?
Why is this drop rate sooooooo low? It’s infuriating and it seems like it can’t possibly be right.
It’s pretty much a knowledge brick wall after picking up the freebie knowledge boosts.
It is terrible skinning, where as my alt herb/miner is rolling in knowledge from gathering.
Yeah the knowledge drops from mining and herbing seem reasonable. Skinning, not reasonable.
It’s also difficult when we don’t know if there’s a weekly cap for those bonus drops that give knowledge points. One thing with DF, they said on the profession page how many you had left to acquire each week.
Get the WeeklyKnowledge addon and with a /wk you can see how many you have left to gather.
Although it won’t tell you how many catchup ones you can get.
Didn’t they limit the number of those you can get per week?
Whatever the limit is I was under it unless it was a number like 2.
I think you can tell you’ve hit the weekly limit when you get the epic one that gives 3 knowledge.
I know they limited it in DF, but then you could look at the skinning professions page and see “you may discover X more samples this week” under curious hide. No addon needed.
I’m wondering why we don’t have that int he profession page (that I can see) in TWW?
I followed a horde bee farm group and within 15 mins I got 5 1 pt items, the 3 point item and then 2 more single point ones (a different version than the first 5). Granted I didn’t max out last week but the rate seemed fine. 
Best way I’ve found is to round up packs of 3-4 at a time and nuke them down. Doing one mob at a time would take forever, and I don’t think the drop increases for elites.
I believe the cap is ~5 or 6 of the KP items, followed by the epic one.
It’s weird, I’ve had no particular trouble today getting knowledge from skinning. Maybe 10 talons in less than an hour, after maxing out the other items. I feel like I can actually grind talons, which was not a thing at all a couple days ago.
I feel like something has changed, or perhaps I have a skill that has (greatly) increased the drop rate. Who knows. There is very little that I’ve found about how the skinning profession actually works.
It was actually worse - the first week it took me 3 hours of skinning to get all the items.
I do think they need to increase the drop rate again though because they drive down prices making people skin so much plus it isn’t comparable to the time required for herbing/mining.
I eventually looted maybe 30 talons quite quickly, then no more.
I think the talons may be the “catch up” item? Then there is some kind of a hard cap at some point and you won’t get talons either.

This character also mines, and after my regular drops today I got a fair number of null slivers or whatever they’re called. So I’m putting all that acuity into my skinner as I have another miner who’s better at it. …
I am not sure any of my skinners are behind - but my skinner/miner would be the one most likely to be but again I always stop at the purple because I have 3 skinners and 3 miners and only so much time.
I should start my second herbalism though this week and we shall see how fast that can catch up.
My father says the drop rate on horns is pretty bad too.
Look Weeklys didn’t even reset for most of us… can’t excpect them to actually work on the game when they can’t even reset it correctly.
Horns are a pain in the butt to get…and they’re needed to make those carapaces that are used in a ton of leatherworking recipes.
