Learning about Rotations and when to use abilities like crowd control and certain class mechanics.
The old class trainers should be giving these quest.
Edit: I mean you can learn about all your abilities and talents as you unlock them.

if you play the game there’s no way you don’t learn to do this naturally bro
if you start in the new zone that’s exactly what they do
I agree. Even something like that boosted character tutorial on the airship would suffice. It’s not fair to assume everyone will learn naturally.
I invited someone to play WoW with me not too long ago. They are completely new to RPGs and have almost no experience with video games in general. They have no idea how to play their class without being told how to play it because the game doesn’t really tell them how each button interacts with the class.
If you’re wondering what I mean, it’s that they do nothing but spam Cobra Shot and maybe Barbed Shot at 0 focus. They don’t realize there’s a specific pattern to press buttons in to do decent damage despite playing the easiest spec (BM Hunter). The game doesn’t tell you if you’re playing the spec correctly, just that what you’re doing is dealing damage.
So everybody leaving the new starting zone is ready to start on ksm?
You don’t have enough of your class for the combat tutorial in exiles reach to be really useful at end game.
Then how do we have players who don’t know what an interrupt is trying to do M+? How did I find a protection warrior trying to tank with an Intellect Dagger
Just in case someone is struggling >.>. Wouldnt hurt to have this option.
If you do start in the new player starting area, you will get these tutorials and a more involved learning experience, plus access to helpful chat in game.
If you choose to go the non-new-player area, you will end up learning to use these abilities as you level. You will gain on average, 1 new talent every two levels, so it gives you enough time while questing/dungeoning to practice the new talent or choose to not include it in your rotation.
As an aside, there are also combat test dummies in most major cities for you to practice your rotation and check your numbers. They vary in level/difficulty to give you a good idea how your rotation might change for boss fights vs mob fights.
IMO this is a non-starter, trainers arent needed anymore and I am thankful we dont have to trudge back to them every time we learn a new ability (which we used to have to pay gold for mind you).
lol… yea that’s exactly what I just said.
No, but they do go over the fundamentals of when to use certain types of spells, that sort of thing scales with your spell book.
The leveling content isn’t hard enough to require you to know how your class works, and with LFR/LFD existing, you can get the illusion of doing the content without ever pressing more than 1 button.
Yes. I mean you can learn about all your abilities and talents when you unlock them.
You can level, complete every heroic dungeon, and LFR all while only pressing 1of your buttons I’d imagine.
Some people you just can’t teach how to do anything no matter how much ya try.
Pretty much. And I’m in the camp where I don’t think that’s good for the game as a whole.
I know people weren’t fond of gating heroic dungeons behind the proving grounds in WoD, but I think that something similar to those proving grounds scenarios would be helpful to a lot of people.
I wonder what the outcome would be if they made the game more challenging Don’t be under any illusion that players will improve, they may just quit as not everyone is seeking a challenge in their games.
cata heroics enter the chat…
Why would you ever have to interrupt a cast during leveling? You’re essentially a god. Nothing any mob casts while leveling is even remotely impactful
Leveling needs a major rehaul
I actually keep Ghostcrawlers post bookmarked
Some players would of course improve but they’d likely improve regardless, the others will just be former Wow players.
Good think nobody tries then, right? No point in having in-game help if you only want new players who are already talented, fast-learning theorycrafters before they log in to the first videogame they ever played for the first time.
