Leveling RBGs? Dead?

I used to get at least one RBG queue with nearly full or full every 10 levels (in Dragon flight any season). Now I’ve got maybe 3 Seething Shore games, 2 of which have ended as a result of too few players. (And my chara is 58) I am really disappointed and wishing I could refund War Within now if the game is this dead. Am I doing something wrong? Does nobody do low level PvP anymore for leveling? What is going on? I’d love to get some honor before I hit max level…

Random battlegrounds are not dead but BGs are very much an endgame experience, people don’t level in BGs because they are comparatively so slow, even if you are on a winstreak.

Everyone was probably busy last week doing Comp Stomp. I didn’t even know leveling RBGs was a thing, tbh.

It’s quite slow in comparison but the trade off is you get honor for when you finally do hit max level. It’s also quite fun in my opinion to mix in a BG here in there between questing and doing dungeons.

I hear you. Nowadays, you can transfer honor account-wide so that reward for doing battlegrounds while leveling is gone after the first character is leveled.

Also, the balancing in leveling battlegrounds is quite poor - some specs actually do 300% more damage than others at level 39 for example (MM hunter vs frost mage), and at level 19 a holy priest spamming holy nova will kill a whole team.

I’ve pretty much given up on it myself.

Just rush to max level, and then grind PvP.

Or, at least, get to level 71 and grind honor and tokens to 80 so I can start out with some pieces, and buy crafted PvP gear for the rest.

Lowbie PvP has been in a dire state since, I wanna say BfA and SL?

The queues are so long and inconsistent, as well as folks duo-ing with max levels to stomp others- it wasn’t fun.

Thanks for letting me know. I’ll look forward to playing PvP in my 70s then instead. I might just not grind new characters for a while, I have plenty of level 70s I need to get to 80. I usually make a brand new character when I first come back to WoW though to get back in the groove.

It’s still alive at max level thankfully, I queue for BG Blitz all the time and queues aren’t long as a healer, going from instant to like 2-ish mins at the most usually.

And yeah I do the same, made this guy right prior to Undermine, because I hadn’t had a goblin since like Cata.

Had to dust off my Shaman skills, see what changed, etc.

I level all my characters beside the first one exclusively through alternating BG/DG queues, stopping only after 12k honor.

It takes longer but is a much more fun experience than anything at level cap.

But since I do it every expansion, it’s only the last 10 levels.

With the balancing/scaling changes over the years, low level BGs must be terrible outside of meta specs.

Level sync with level capped players are also a terrible change.

I tried queuing for BGs at level 20 and 70 and I gave up in both cases when the Q didnt pop after 25 mins.

RGB stands for Really Better Gone.

RBG XP was drastically nerfed to increase “fun”.

RBGs are okay in the evening time and at max level. They are populated. I feel pretty happy today I did my one for the day and we won, and their team had a very famous pvper on it. Yeah he killed me, but watching his skill was absolutely worth it. (Not naming the person but it was crazy to see how good he is.)

Stop using rbg to say random bg rbg is rated bg sheesh

Yes, this! Unrated bgs are “randoms”, while RBG stands for Rated BattleGround.

Low level randoms used to give decent xp. They don’t anymore. Party sync wrecked them, too.

No point when dungeon leveling gets you to 80 10x faster.
