Leveling Needs A Rework

11.0 Is my hope for a rework to leveling.
11.0 is my hope that they give more options to leveling.

The gear reward is irrelevant for leveling as it all scales.
The face-rolling of the mobs is so depresseing and off-putting.
The face-rolling of dungeons is bad design ( make dungeons more difficult but grant greater exp and gear)
I’d love for “danger” to be present again in my leveling journies.

Leveling needs sliders:

  • XP Slider
  • Difficulty Slider

This is because one size doesn’t fit all.

Be careful what you wish for. Bfa was like that. Mobs continued scaling with you past max level. So even once you were in uldir gear outdoor content still felt like a pain. Actual leveling difficulty maybe. Making outdoor content continue to be hard at max level? Not needed.

As for dungeons I don’t see how this would work. Normal dungeons used to be hard. You needed a ton of cc and a ton of time. Difficult dungeons would take hours.

Now fast forward to today’s players who will quit a run for one person dying. Or like yesterday when our healer bailed on a timewalking dungeon because they didn’t like the path. Most can’t be bothered to even watch a video that’s 90 seconds before queuing into lfr as a tank. If they went back to hours long dungeons that were difficult the lack of instant gratification and the “I’m to busy and successful to play wow so just gimme it all” crowd would just quit. What would that leave us? Classic wow which is where most of the people wanting that hard mode version have already gone.

Also try the new mega dungeon it’s certainly more difficult and actually a lot of fun.

I wouldn’t hate classic version of leveling. Where you could actually die even if you do things right.

Unfortunately for your point of view, their is too much to do in the game anymore for the focus to be on leveling. It will never be leveling oriented again tbh. In addition, leveling is just a means to an end, an extended tutorial if you will. The real game starts at max.

I feel like these ideas posts rarely have concrete visions of what such a system would look like.

Like, sure, I’m down for xp and “difficulty” sliders/options, but like… classic leveling is tedious, and simply making mobs hit harder and have more health isn’t going to make the leveling experience an engaging or fulfilling one, at least not in my eyes.

Something needs to change I’ll say that. Leveling is very awkward and unrewarding. Scaling is definitely a part of it.

On the one hand scaling makes things faceroll and the rewards are meaningless.
On the other you feel like you get weaker as you level. You don’t end up in more danger, things just take longer. Very weird.

Exactly this. I know the primary focus is around endgame and that’s perfectly fine. However, I just wish there was … more…

What would make it rewarding?

They fixed the rework with Chromie time. Just needed to raise it to 60 to align with max level…

Rather than what they did now by raising max level to 70 ruining the effort hey put into chromie time to begin with.

Remove scaling and revert the level squish.

Blizzard reworked leveling in Cataclysm and Shadowlands.

What more options do you want? You have Outland, Northrend, Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, Pandaria, Draenor, Broken Isles, and Kul Tiras and Zandalar as well as dungeons and battlegrounds.

Error 101: No evidence provided. To continue, please provide valid evidence for claim(s).

Go play Classic, or do one of the many options to challenge yourself instead of trying to force it onto everyone else.

It does, first and foremost I think they really ought to do a remaster of Azeroth, I bet the contrast between Exile’s Reach and Stormwind/Elwynn, Orgrimmar/Durotar is massive and probably off-putting to new players.

I hope they would also make the quests atemporal, not tied to any expansion so it doesn’t feel dated and out of place like BFA leveling, just small self contained questlines that at most tie in to another zone to continue the story.

As for the difficulty, I believe it should be an option rather than forced, I would personally love to have a slower and harder leveling experience but the truth is that the vast majority of players in retail just want to get leveling over with as fast as humanly possible so they can engage the end game activities, no matter how fun it could be.

Now, with all that said, I would never expect a leveling rework of that scale ever happening, so… It is what it is unfortunately.

No, leveling should be even easier and faster than it already is.

I said what I said.
