Leveling is worse than any other expansion?

I really can’t think of any time I was this far into an expansion, with only ONE max level character.

I want to level up my Shaman or Hunter, but sweet baby Thrall, I just hate it. It fees so slow…

vanilla was even better than shadowlands questing

I disagree, I think Threads of Fate is a breath of fresh air for alt leveling. I’ve gotten six alts to 60 using it (plus my main) and none took more than a couple days.

Doesn’t it take 10ish hours to level 50-60?

I usually powerlevel a character during Timewalking anyway, cause I prefer dungeon leveling.

I dunno, BfA was pretty bad what with scaling making your character weaker with each level and your legiondaries expiring at 115. IMHO it felt worse than Vanilla/TBC did.

I guess it’s just a motivation thing. Maybe I’ll try again tomorrow and just watch Netflix on my other monitor or something.

I wasn’t a fan of it early on, but a friend and I ended up talking about some of the ways to work through it. Turns out I level all my alts this way now. Running them through specific Sojourner quest chains in each zone and doing the four dungeon quests is ridiculously quick. I hope they keep this system moving forward.

Same. Honestly the only reason I haven’t gotten more to max yet is because I want to wait for flying.

Subjectively speaking this expansions alt leveling is tolerable. BFA I leveled one character and then gave up on the expansion entirely. Shadowlands I’ve leveled 9 of the 12 classes to 60. Spamming dungeons in Threads of Fate is tolerable enough. Doesn’t take very long.

The real leveling hurdle in this expansion is staying logged in to complete the first run through the Maw.

Nah, older expansions were worse. I think Shadowlands is actually pretty decent and quick for leveling; I have six level 60s right now, and four of them are Renown capped. The main point of fun I’m finding is leveling because Earthmother knows Blizzard doesn’t have much content for a single character, at least it doesn’t feel like it.

How so? I must be missing something. I tried it once and didn’t like it.

I did some random quests. Some bonus objectives(…which frankly take too damn long). And the occasional WQ. I didn’t really do dungeons though, but as a DPS I generally don’t see them as great EXP for the time due to queues. Though I guess there’s something to be said for doing them with a quest to do so while you do other stuff waiting out the queue time.

But what’d I miss really? Because while I skipped doing a few dungeons, it still felt clunky and slow to me, and not sure running a handful of dungeons would have made up for that.

This is the fastest leveling has ever been…especially if you play a class that can heal / tank to spam dungeons with. However, fast DPS classes can also make quick work of the quest chains too.

Threads of Fate lets a player do whatever zones he/she feels like without being stuck going through the campaign story every single time…

I get that part. But I certainly didn’t find it faster or anything. And the people above were talking about it being amazing, where to me it was basically just like Legion’s “go where you want to” kind of thing. Not groundbreaking.

I’ve recently leveled a warlock using threads, the dps queues aren’t so bad (10ish minutes per) and dungeon spamming and questing while queued is definitely the way to go.

IMO the disadvantage of doing threads is not testing out the covenant ability as you go.

Thought I saw it mentioned you could swap covenants around while leveling with threads or something. Have you tried?

Even at two hours a day I was done in less than two weeks. It’s just after that; getting a character through all the chores to get Renown. - and geared up.

Renown is RNG, leveling isn’t. Despite that, I’ve done the additional 35 renown in a reset after hitting 60 on the last two toons I leveled. Lucky RNG for them. Gearing up is kind of meh, depending on what you’re aiming for with a character.

Yeah, this is where you missed. Ignore the bonus objectives completely, they’re worthless.

I just casually went through doing side quests, and any nearby WQ as I quested. It was easy and quick.
