Leveling is way to fast

So consider this. Payers can reach max level in record setting time. Now what? Grind baby grind. Gets repetitive killing mobs. Sure invasions and keys can help gear you up but after a month i want to cry. There needs to be a better system to leveling and content then what we have.

leveling is still too slow - I bet you rush to level and then say too fast

This is intentional. They want people to rush to max level and start doing end content. They don’t want them having fun in old content, so they made it less fun and kind of pointless.

You can control how fast you level. Why should they force everybody to slow down just because you want it to be slower?

they tried slow and I for one never leveled a single character during that period - I strongly suspect I wasn’t alone for them to reverse that.

leveling is fine as it is, if you want a slow leveling experience then go play classic or another game.

or level lock yourself each zone every 1-2 levels until you reach the next zone

Leveling/levels should be removed. Imagine what thatd look like.

All we do in this game is kill mobs, that won’t change ever.

I don’t mind the quick leveling so much.

After all, you can still do non-endgame content at max level. You don’t need to ignore all the flavor and lore quests in favor of endgame content.

On the other hand, I do mind getting kicked out of Chromie content the second I hit 60. At least give me the option to stick around, even if I don’t gain experience: one time I was >< close to finishing a nice long quest chain when I hit 60 and then it was time to go…

You can only swipe so fast, dude.

leveling is at the speed that you control. I just hit level 63 last night and I’m sure that most would say that I am going slower than molasses. I play at my speed and take time to enjoy the game. The fact that I am 63 and only half way through the first zone is more alarming to me. I will hit 70 before I even get close to half the campaign done. But since I don’t give a crap about end game then there is no problem. I can still finish the campaign at my own speed and enjoy the things about the game that I like to do.

I ended up focusing solely on the campaign, and it pretty much brings you to 70. They put a ton of quests in the zones for alts and renown grind, which I noticed as I’m figuring out what character I want to level next and where, because Adventure Mode allows you to go and do whatever you want. I’m basically going to complete any quests I missed on the alts.

This is 2022, not 2004. Go play classic if you want a long and boring grind to max level. Oh never mind, Blizz brought extra XP to classic due to popular demand. Well there is always New World, a game launched last year by developers who wanted to bring back the “good old days” of MMOs. …Oh nevermind, they recently cut XP in half so it takes half the time to level max than it use to. They also made a dungeon finder and mounts are on the table for the future because …surprise…players don’t like their time being wasted.

Just face it, no one wants those old pointless grinds anymore. The players have spoken.

Long, slow leveling is what stops me from playing as much. I like alts, but doing the leveling grind on one character feels awful if it takes forever. If I needed to do that for every alt, I’d only have my main at max and once I run out of stuff to do, I just step away from the game. Alts ensure I play more, and I really enjoy having options for end game content.

I enjoyed the Dragonflight leveling. Blizzard will never give us stellar storytelling, but I liked the narratives I got to experience while leveling. It just loses all impact after the first time through so I don’t want to drudge through it again.

I agree on their intent. I hope that it’s temporary and some balancing for old world content is in the works.

I think the issue is that before level scaling, there used to be options for players with a variety of preferences. Most of those options have been removed. First, with level scaling, the One True Way to Level™ increased the time from 30 hours to 120 hours. At that time they told us leveling would feel more rewarding if we spent more time on it. With the removal of power progression from leveling, which made you noticeably stronger with each level you gained, it became a boring slog of filling an infinitely long bar by killing tens of thousands of indistinguishable trash packs. People who actually liked the earlier style of leveling left the game at that point.

Flash forward to today. Leveling is still a boring slog, more boring the more times you do it. Who’d have guessed that might become the case?

They could have given players options. But they don’t like players having options, which gives them the ability to choose to play the game wrong. And as we all know, there is only one Right Way to Play the Game™.

So players are still here fighting about which is the One True Way to Level™ which should be forced on everybody who plays. One size fits all, with no consideration of individual preferences, abilities, etc. Until the next expansion, when they change to some other One True Way to Level™, and everybody who played previous to that needs to switch now to save your soul.
