Leveling is insanely fast - potential idea

I’m all for reaching endgame at a decent pace but what felt like a brisk walk to reach 70 is now a literal sprint.

I did 3 random dungeons and about 10 quests in Borean and went from 10 to 22.

I know this is personal taste but can we get a toggle or item or something that lets us enjoy leveling if we want to?

Give crafters the ability to make a BoA trinket or something that slows XP by 100/75/50/25%.

Scribes make a Deck of the Tortoise trinket
Enchanters can enchant a cloak with Enchant of the Snail
Leatherworkers make an Armor Kit of the Sloth for legs
Tailors make a Spool of the Sporebat for gloves
Blacksmith makes a Belt Buckle of the Kodo for belts

Etc. etc. etc.

No rank would be 10%, Bronze would be 25%, Silver 50%, Gold 75%, Diamond would be 100%

The hot tip would be an heirloom trinket. You put it on and never take it off.

If your leveling consists of running dungeons and doing quests, what exactly stops you doing this at end game?

I think people have this false idea that slower leveling equates to more fun leveling, just because it happened to be slower in the past.

There’s nothing wrong with your proposal. I just don’t think it would deliver what you’re wanting.

Gaining levels and new talents and running old content while getting more powerful is what is fun about leveling. At end game it’s just an iLvl grind for power.

The journey of WoW was always more fun to me than the destination and now it feels like I’m missing all of the scenery.

Not necessarily the best solution at all, but I’d just skip doing dungeons for now. If you want to enjoy the scenery, just leveling in the world will give you more time to see the things around you and will also be a slower leveling.

It’s about the same speed. Two or three quests will level you and they’re all in small clumps so just a few quest chains and you’re already 5 levels ahead. I would almost bet that you’d be 60 before leaving Borean Tundra just questing.

While I think leveling leaves a lot to be desired and is in bad need of an update, the reason why it’s suddenly a sprint to 70 is because the max level is now 80. We’re just missing part of the leveling experience that’s the slowest right now until TWW launches.

Though this is a popular enough thread that it might be worth considering a mode(or an event to test the waters, that could become a permanent mode) for a “mythic leveling” setting that, among other things, slows down the rate at which you gain XP.

Throw in some cosmetic rewards because those are always fun to get, and you’ve got something that could help revitalize leveling while still allowing the people who only care about endgame to sprint to max level.

which is kinda like leveling, when you think about it
you just never know when your next level is, or if what you think is a level, is actually a level

have i leveled with you on this?

Agreed! They made remix a super fast way to level, so I’m sure there could be an alternative of sorts for this type of experience that people are looking for.

@OP, I think the idea of a professional item/trinket is very interesting and I wouldn’t be opposed to that at all! Although, me personally - I’m taking a break from scenic leveling since I completed loremaster and am still not ready for more of that lol.

First time I ever played WoW, it took me 2 1/2 years to get a single max level character. Nowadays it takes me roughly 3-5 weeks.

I agree though. I’d love to be able to go back to leveling the old fashioned way before timewalking existed.

We have classic for that

While fast levelling can be beneficial at times, I agree that the option of slowing down if a player wanted to do that isn’t a bad idea.

I like your idea of an item that does that. Would be fun if they created a special gear slot for certain things like that, perhaps earrings, where non-combat related items could be put into.

Go Kill Your exp. I do this from time to time on Characters. To grind old professions, reps, dungeons etc. I love it
