You can level from 1-45 in any of the timelines, but then you have to go to Shadowlands from 45-60. The problem with this is that when you are in shadowlands you go through the story and by the time you are not even halfway through each story questline you are already doing greyed out quests. In Bastion, I was 55 by the time the fallen aspirants attacked. Then I have to go through the rest of the zone getting no exp to unlock the next zone?
This is a valid complaint. Have you picked up both primary professions already?
not yet. I haven’t really thought about it, just leveling up.
In this case, I have a recommendation but not a solution. If you pick up herbalism and/or mining, it is particularly good experience at level 50-60. This will get you to level 60 so you can continue leveling, but it doesn’t help the continuity of the Shadowlands zones.
Additionally, once you have one max level character, Chromie time should start scaling up to level 60, and you can level anywhere until level 60 with Chromie time.
That’s not a bad idea
Typically when leveling from 50-60 I would just do dungeons. You’re guaranteed almost 2 levels worth of xp per shadowlands dungeon. If you are looking to absolutely go through the entire story, this is expected as the amount of xp you get from 50-60 is pretty damn high and goes up real fast.
Same as Rita, a recommendation but not a solution.
You are not required to do SL at ALL. You can go from any zone in Chromie time to 60.
I thought bfa scales to 60 now.
Why cant you level to 60 in other expansions?
I find this is worth looking into.
Ideally, I would think blizzard would want to adjust exp so that you complete your leveling to 60 by the time the campaign ends, and for it to be pretty smooth along the way.
Should work like this imo,
1-45 you pick the expansion campaign. 45-60 shadowlands campaign, and it should be a consistent experience where your max level should be toward the end of the campaign.
No you don’t.
So does Chromie Time.
If you open your map it shows what zones have which level range. I didn’t know that BFA was also to 60. But it seems like every zone that isn’t classic is 1-45. Then BFA and SL are 45-60.
Edit: Actually TBC is 1-30 only and BFA and SL are 10-60. This is where the problem comes in. If you chose to do anything other than BFA or SL, then you will out level content extremely fast.
That’s weird. I’ve been levelling this guy and I didn’t have to go to SL. What am I missing?
You can still level there, but the exp you get for mobs is 0 since they’re grey. The exp you get from quests caps out like if you were the level cap for that zone. So you can be level 50 in TBC getting 0 exp from mobs, and level 30 exp for quest turn ins.
You can go to Chromie and set your timeline to Catacylsm for 1-60 in Cata content. Else it’s an intentional design to force you into newer content.
Same for other content as well. Mist for 1-60 MoP. WoD for 1-60 WoD. Etc etc.
are you using chromie time, or just traveling there? It wasnt like this last expansion
i’m like 90% certain the leveling process is: for first character 1-10 Exiles Reach, then 10-60 (or 58?) in BfA, and the last 10-12 levels in DF. and then for every other character it’s 10-60 in any expansion thanks to chromie time.
Use Chromie Time. All expansions go from 1-60 in Chromie Time.
Maybe it’s just me, but the BFA dungeons seem REALLY overtuned. I just ran a couple. We were getting 1 shot by regular mobs. The pirates in Freehold just ran over us and took 10 minutes to kill a boss. There is a storm elemental in Shrine of the Storm that basically 1-2 shots everyone but tanks with it’s channeled aoe ability.
